💡 Reflecting back on CESPE 2024! 💡 PwC Belgium had the pleasure of sponsoring the CESPE 2024 conference on October 24th! The conference included three main themes: Digitalization, which explored the transformative potential of AI in the (bio)pharmaceutical industry; Enabling Technologies, which highlighted advancements in flow chemistry and high-throughput experimentation; and Biomanufacturing. We proudly presented our work on the Belgian biomanufacturing ecosystem and participated in an exciting panel debate with key ecosystem stakeholders. Our presentation was a call-to-action to ecosystem actors and policymakers to ensure we maintain our impressive global position in this field. The discussion explored Belgium's logistical expertise, the fragmented ecosystem, and the importance of initiatives like CESPE in bridging academia and industry. Belgium should be proud of its biomanufacturing capabilities, and we are committed to supporting its continued growth and innovation. Delighted to share the results from our first #DeloittePrivate Scale-Ups Confidence Survey: European Report 2024. Key findings below, but overall really encouraging to read that despite difficult market conditions over the past 12-18 months, scale-ups across Europe continue to feel confident about the future. 💸 #European scale-ups struggled last year primarily with lower/delayed new business and customer signings; cash flow, liquidity & funding challenges; and finding the right talent. 🌎 US dominates international expansion plans despite cultural and regulatory challenges. 📈 Government support is a key driver for #scale-up growth and development. 🥇 Overall, there is a need for greater unity and cooperation to enhance #innovation across Europe.
