"Hey Julien, I'm happy with my job.. but.." "..I'm regularly working 50-60 hours per week and I don't think it's sustainable" This is the exact conversation I had with an SAP Expert this week. He told me that he currently has: - Super interesting projects - Great development opportunities - A full range of inclusive benefits - A competitive salary for his experience - A boss he respects and gets on well with Sounds perfect right? "So why did you reach out to me?" I asked him. "Well, everything is great, but I'm regularly working weekends and evenings" - He's been missing time with his family & friends. - His relationship with his partner has been neglected. - He doesn't have time to exercise and ride his bike like he used to. - He feels stressed and started suffering from anxiety. - He doesn't feel like he can take vacation days without feeling guilty. "You live to exist" I told him "And your existence is your work" It doesn't have to be like this. Yesterday I shared a post with a snapshot overview of the SAP market in Q4 Apr-Jun24. This demonstrated that we are in a busier market than pre-COVID so why does it feel different? 👉 Expectations have changed. When we was in a 'busy market' employees could dictate what they wanted like renumeration, flexibility, role title and WFH for example. We are now back to an employers market 👉 A lot of people moved out the cities as being on a client site was redundant. There is a big pull from employers to change this dynamic once again 👉 When there is less demand employers have more of a pick of resources and head count hires. The only exception to this is niche skillsets and junior talent are still hard to find Based on these stats the message would be - Continually adapt to market conditions #SAP #SAPmarket #ANZ #newrole #SAPsnapshot

And we, TheValueChain, were honored to be the pioneering partner representing Belgium. Over the past year, our journey has been nothing short of inspiring. We've had the privilege of ✅ gaining firsthand insights into MPM and SAP demos on MPM, Event Mesh, …, ✅ engaging in enriching discussions with SAP and SAP partners of other countries, ✅ collaborating on potential solutions for global market communication challenges, ✅ showing live demos about our Belgian processes, ✅ … So yes, it was a great decision to join this work group and to free up time for it. ❗ Find a SAP Project Manager for us .. When I try to find for such people, I often hear DIFFERENT information from representatives of consulting companies or end customers of SAP solutions. Believe me, companies often have different understandings of who a SAP Project manager is. The concepts of Project Manager, solution architect and team leader, leading SAP consultant, Pre-sale manager, etc. are often interchanged. I will give examples that I hear from customers: ▪️ "The project manager, who will be the team leader, if it is necessary to act as a senior SAP consultant. Experience as an architect of SAP solutions and experience in core module development - will be a plus, as we will not be hiring many people". ▪️ "A Project manager who will bring all SAP team at once. This is his main task. I will tell him what and how to do (project sponsor)". ▪️ "The Project manager must come and will force our contractor to leave the project, because we are not satisfied with this contractor. He should also bring in a new consulting contractor". ▪️ "A strong SAP Project manager, who can take command of the end customer's department heads. Our client needs to be afraid of him". ▪️ "The main task of the SAP Project manager for the first 3 months is to sell another SAP solution to the client and get our consultants". ▪️ "SAP Project manager with good sales experience of SAP consulting services, licenses and technical pre-sale experience". ▪️ "SAP Project manager with acquaintances. His task is to promote our company's brand among the industry and sell this SAP solution". ▪️ "Olena, this candidate is too proper, values standards and methodologies very much. He will start correcting all our rules and principles of work. We are not ready to change something that we have been creating for years". ▪️ "I am a project sponsor. I don't want to listen to anything at all. Does he get money? Will he create the team himself? Does he know the task? Let him do what he wants, but that the project should be handed in on time. The main thing is that he does not disturb me! I have 4 more companies - not before that. We have the head of the IT department sitting there, let him decide everything...". ❇️ I hope this gives you an understanding of how different companies can view this position. Much depends on the experience and knowledge of the project sponsor, business owners and other responsible persons, as well as on the scale of the business. I often help the company understand what it are wants.
