Recently, I had the chance to facilitate a #womeninleadership program, yet it was difficult to overlook the disconnect I noticed—the atmosphere was thick with low energy and hesitation. As the day unfolded, the women leaders expressed their frustrations regarding the dismissal of their ideas. One participant summed up a shared feeling: “If our leader trusts us then why I feel otherwise?” I wonder if the underlying reason is #trust. A scenario where individual culture or working style undermines organizational culture arises not from a leader dismissing new ideas, but rather from a fixed mindset inherent in their leadership style. The last couple of days I have been working on preparing a corporate workshop on #delegation and feedback. Delegation is an essential part of successful leadership. However, the reality is that many people hesitate to do it, and of course, there are reasons for this. I found 5 main reasons why people hesitate to delegate tasks to others. Of course, there are other reasons, but the ones below are the most common ones that people refer to when working on delegation issues: •We believe that we are the only ones who can do the job. •We find that it is quicker and more productive to do it ourselves rather than delegate something. •We don't know an effective way to delegate. Since the same approach is not suitable for all individuals and does not work the same way, we believe we don't have capable people to delegate tasks to, and ultimately, we don't do it. •We are afraid that the result will not be as good as if we completed the activity ourselves, and we believe that if we delegate to someone else, we will "risk" the quality of our work. •We believe that if we delegate tasks to members of our team, they will feel demotivated due to workload, and we try to protect them. Often, delegation initially requires more time than doing the work ourselves. But as I like to say to my client “Delegation is an investment, not just a task. It often require more time and energy in the beginning to get easier and effortless long term results.” #leadership #culture #mindset

👉 How do you sustain a #growthmindset without getting mental fatigue? Last week, I co-facilitated a 3-day #Leadership Workshop with eager first time leaders. We talked about leading self, leading team and how it all comes together. We practiced #coaching-curious mindset and #feedback. We also talked about growth mindset, a.k.a. the ideal mindset. This last discussion on growth mindset combined with what I heard in the Trevor Noah's "What Now" podcast that week - where they talked about experiencing "honeymoon" eyes in a new job or travelling to a new location: a newness and exploration where you mostly see all the wonderfulness before you see all the nuances and challenges - had me reflecting on the idea of #sustainablegrowth and sometimes needing to "cruise" into other phases. My most energising career moments - when I started a new role or a new challenge, and when everything felt possible - were "honeymoon moments". I also have the ability of staying in "honeymoon" for a significant period before the bubble bursts... but when it bursts, it doesn't take long for me to move to unproductive stress (see image 👇 ) or stagnation. So now I wonder about always seeking a growth mindset at work. How do I give myself permission time to rest, to re-discover newness, or permission to cruise because I need to focus on another part of my life that might be stressful and takes more of my energy? How to move from growth to growth, feeling accomplished and valued, without #mentalfatigue? With this eager group of leaders, we recognized the need for balance for self and our teams. In other words, finding #sustainablegrowth, and to ride the waves in a healthy way. It's ok to cruise once in a while (what we called the AirBnB phase - you visit but you don't stay) so we keep growing. 👉 What does maintaining a growth mindset, while achieving your goals, look like for you? How well do you listen as a leader or a coach?   The essence of leadership is to shift the inner place from which we operate both individually and collectively. And for this, learning the art and science of listening is absolutely crucial. 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗶𝗻? Level 1- Downloading : “Yeah, I know that already" Level 2- Factual Listening: “Ooh, look at that!” Level 3- Empathic Listening: “Oh, yes, I know how you feel.”  Level 4- Generative listening: “I can’t express what I experience in words. My whole being has slowed down. I feel more quiet and present and more my real self. I am connected to something larger than myself.” This level of listening requires us to access our open heart and open will—our capacity to hold space for the highest future possibility that wants to emerge. 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: 1) At the end of the conversation, you realize that you are no longer the same person you were when you started the conversation.  2) You have gone through a subtle but profound change. You have connected to a deeper source—to the source of who you really are and to a sense of why you are here—a connection with your emerging authentic Self. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴? Let go of old patterns of behavior and be humble enough to ask two fundamental questions to themselves, 1) Who do I choose to be?  2) What am I here for?
