🏛️ 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 Besides developing 𝐋𝐮𝐦𝐢 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰 for DORA compliance, we also help financial companies with things like quantitative financial modelling and KID compliance. Recently, we worked with a company to calculate the 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 (or risk) of their investment profiles. These profiles mix stocks and bonds in different ways. 🔍 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭? We used a 15% volatility for stocks and a 4% volatility for bonds. Then, we combined them into one number that shows the overall volatility for each investment profile, while also considering how stocks and bonds move together (their 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧). This gave us a 1-year volatility for each profile. For longer time periods, we adjusted the calculation to account for changing volatility over time. In the picture below, you'll see a simple example of how the 1-year portfolio volatility calculation works. We are pleased to be part of a 295 million US dollar syndicated loan facility to Access Bank Plc together with FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, British International Investment, BIO - the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries, Blue Orchard Finance, FinDev Canada, Norfund, Oikocredit and Swedfund International. The funding will support underserved small and medium enterprises (SMEs) including those led by women and youth, providing access to working capital and supporting resilience as Nigeria faces its most severe economic crisis in a generation. “This loan facility can be described as significant in many ways” says Finnfund’s Investment Manager Antti Partanen. “For one, the size of funding is exceptional. We have been partnering with Access Bank since 2017 and we are convinced that Access Bank’s commitment to work with local micro- and small businesses helps create jobs and contributes to the country’s overall economic development and growth. The significant impact comes from providing access to financing Nigeria’s young and vibrant population where over 85% of employed people are self-employed and some 70% of the country's population is under 30." DORDA has successfully supported IXOPAY, a pioneer in the FinTech industry, and its shareholders, the sibling and pioneering duo Rene Siegl and Nathalie Siegl, in a strategic merger with TokenEx, a leading cloud tokenisation provider from the USA. The DORDA team led by Jürgen Kittel (Partner, M&A) consisted of Lukas Herrmann (Partner, M&A) and Bianca Schamberger (Associate, M&A) on the M&A side.
