👋Meet Ahou Mélanie Gbodou, a married 40-year-old mother of four from Broudoukou Penda, Côte d’Ivoire. When swollen shoot disease devastated the family's cocoa plantation, Mélanie didn’t give up. Instead, she saw an opportunity. With determination, she set up a small brasero in front of her home and began smoking meat to sell to passers-by. Her hard work paid off, allowing her to save for a freezer, buy in bulk, and expand production. Today, Mélanie continues to grow her cocoa business as well as her meat business, and credits her success to the Veliche AWALE program, which gave her the financial management skills and confidence to turn her idea into a successful business and provide for her family.
