Cheers to enhanced safety for EU consumers! However, the new General Product Safety Regulation does not protect consumers when buying products from non-EU sellers through online marketplaces when these act only as facilitators. This is a gap in the legislation that still needs to be fixed. For now, we recommend consumers to stick to trusted brands when shopping online, and remember: if a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. #toysafety #GPSR
Safe products equals safe customers. The new General Product Safety Regulation applies from today. It is a set of rules that ensures that all products – whether sold online or in shops – meet the highest safety standards. This new law protects you and all customers across the EU. What will the new rules do? - Guarantee all products, including those linked to new technology, are safe - Ensure consumers are informed directly and offered a repair, replacement or refund - Reinforce market surveillance rules - Dangerous products will have to be removed swiftly from the market - Make sure that information on products’ safety and remedy options is available in clear and easily understandable language - Protect vulnerable consumers like children and persons with disabilities. Every child deserves the chance to explore, imagine, make friends 🫂 and grow through play—no matter their abilities. Together with other EU associations, we urge European policymakers to rescue the stagnating EU Single Market and make product legislation more effective. We ask EU leaders for: 🔴 𝐂𝐨𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Rules should not be vague or overly ambiguous. 🟡 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. It is crucial to protect our industry and consumers against competition from players who disregard the rules. 🔵 𝐍𝐨 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐔 𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐬. Diverging national requirements, for instance for products and labelling, break up the Single Market.
