💡 Should I renovate my house or switch to a green energy provider? 🚲 Rent an electric scooter or start a carsharing initiative with my colleagues? Yesterday, Colin Royer brought the Tapio team together to try Puzzle Climat, a game that challenges players to rethink the carbon impact of everyday choices. In the game, we had to prioritise the most impactful actions—working with limited resources, like time, money, and energy. It felt just like real life. By the end, we left with practical steps to reduce our personal carbon footprints to just 5 tonnes. 🎯 We now bring this workshop to companies too! 🌱 Engaging your team in climate action helps spark awareness and sustain momentum for real change. • How do you incentivise more responsible mobility options during an event? Reducing mobility's impact on events can be challenging, as it also depends on guests' willingness to use eco-friendly alternatives. However, event organisers can adopt several strategies to facilitate and encourage sustainable travel options. In this case, the IMPACTRUN by Tero is going to be held at the tero Eventhouse Waterloo, where already existing infrastructure is a big advantage from a logistics and purchasing point of view, but mobility might be more challenging to tackle. Here are some options that can be implemented this year or in the years to come. These are some sustainable options elaborated by Pauline Lavagna of Greensight, who supported Tapio in identifying actions to reduce IMPACTRUN by Tero’s carbon footprint. 🚴 Biking: incentivise bike use by offering perks (e.g. free drinks) and installing electrical recharging stations for e-bikes. 🚆 Train: promote train travel by organising shuttles from the nearest station. In this case, agreements could be made with the train ticket provider to sell train rides with the entrance, and timings need to be aligned with the train schedule. 🚗 Carsharing: Incentivize it by offering reduced or free parking. In the case of the IMPACTRUN by Tero, a team-building activity, organising carpooling seems even easier! 🚫 Parking management: dissuade single-occupancy car use by imposing additional parking fees or restricting parking to carsharing vehicles only. Last but not least, here’s a PRO TIP from Pauline Lavagna: in event communications, always propose the most eco-responsible travel option first, ending with the least sustainable. For example, bike, train, carpooling, or car. While some of these initiatives might not have been implemented in the first edition, they will remain as guidelines for the subsequent editions. But that’s not all. We’ve also discussed stakeholders, communication, energy, and more. Read about the whole journey here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eQDwTVAH Thanks to Clémentine Muschs, Pascaline du Bus and Louis Collinet for taking part in this workshop! This is post 2/6 on the IMPACTRUN by Tero. Every other Wednesday, we discuss a different category of ways to make events more sustainable.

  • If you want to choose the right emission factors, you need to ask yourself these 5 questions. Here they are. 1️⃣ GEOGRAPHY - Where is the company located? An activity in one country might emit more in one country than another. For carbon reports, you need to use national emission factor databases or databases from a nearby, similar territory. 2️⃣ SECTOR - In which industry does the company operate? If your company works in specific sectors such as manufacturing or building, you might need licensed emission factor databases. 3️⃣ METHODOLOGY - What methodology am I using for my carbon report? Depending on whether you’re using GHG Protocol or Bilan Carbone methodology, emission factors are calculated differently. 4️⃣ UNIT OF MEASUREMENT - Is the unit of the emission factor the same as the activity data? The unit of measurement of emission factors needs to be the same as the one of the activity data. If not, convert the activity data. 5️⃣ PUBLISHING DATE - Is the emission factor you want to use up-to-date? Emission factor databases are regularly updated. Pay attention to using the most updated version of an emission factor. Emission factors are the backbone of precise carbon reporting. We’ve answered all these questions and more in our new blog article: https://lnkd.in/eXJt_2yV

Solving climate challenges is like piecing together a puzzle. There are so many pieces to fit, but working together makes the task so much easier. Last week, Colin Royer and Fanny Hermand were in Commune de Woluwe Saint Pierre = Gemeente Sint Pieters Woluwe to raise awareness through Code Climat. Code Climat is a collaborative escape game by Coddy (Didier Boulvin) designed to teach participants how to reduce their carbon footprint through riddles. Our carbon experts are proud to be certified facilitators for this initiative. While we provide carbon management software, we believe it’s equally important to raise awareness among employees. Without their collaboration, organisations cannot achieve long-term reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. 🚨 The CSRD has been (finally) transposed into Belgian law 🚨 If some companies were procrastinating, now is the time to act. This legal framework gives an indication of how the first CSRD reports that are going to be published in 2025 will be. What’s new in the Belgian implementation of the CSRD? 👉 Suppliers can’t ask for more data than what SMEs are already required to report under the CSRD. 👉 Companies can withhold certain sensitive information if disclosing it would severely harm their commercial interests. 👉 Fines will be from 10,000 up to 50,000 for non-compliance. While these measures may make CSRD compliance less daunting, this is just the beginning. Businesses should prepare for increasing transparency on their environmental, social, and governance impacts. • 🚨 Using the wrong emission factor can throw off your entire carbon report 🚨 Why? Emission factors are the backbone of precise carbon reporting. These coefficients determine the quantity of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions produced by specific activities. But emission factors come with their challenges: 🧐 Which emission factors should you use? 🤔 Where do you find them? 🤷♀️ How do you know they’re reliable enough? We’ve answered all these questions and more in our new blog article: https://lnkd.in/eXJt_2yV

  • What makes a sustainability claim credible? For the IMPACTRUN by Tero, we've organised a workshop with Maxime Van der Meerschen, Co-Founder of GiveActions. Together with Clémentine Muschs, Arthur Lhoist, Luisa Fernanda Valero, Pascaline du Bus, Pauline Lavagna and Valentina Valepiano, we've discussed how to make the communication about the IMPACTRUN by Tero transparent and credible. Having an official impact webpage to support sustainability claims turned out to be one of the keys to communicating responsibly about sustainability. 🎯 But how do you structure this webpage? We've brainstormed together and identified the following key sections: 🌱 origin and purpose of the event - the IMPACTRUN by Tero isn’t just a standalone event, it’s part of a more holistic sustainability mission that tero group has been working on for years 💪 detailed actions taken and areas of improvement - in other words communicating about what you do well and what could be improved 📝 report with measurable data - having some science-based reporting such as a carbon report is fundamental to support claims and track progress over the years ❓ FAQ section to address common questions and concerns But it’s not all, we’ve also discussed mobility, energy, food and more. Read about the whole journey here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eQDwTVAH This is post 1/6 on the IMPACTRUN by Tero - Every Wednesday we talk about a different category on how to make events more sustainable.
