Plan International Belgium
Non-profit Organizations
A development & humanitarian organization advancing children's rights & equality for girls in more than 80 countries 🌍.
About us
Plan International Belgium is a development and humanitarian organisation that defends equality for girls in order to seek a better future for all children. We strive for a just world, working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners. We see clear links between fulfilling children’s rights, achieving gender equality and ending child poverty. Every girl and boy has the right to be healthy, educated, protected, valued and respected in their own community and beyond. We support these rights from when children are born to when they reach adulthood. We work to ensure that girls and boys know their rights, and have the skills, knowledge and confidence to fulfil them. This approach inspires and empowers children and communities to create long-lasting change. ✅ Until every girl is free. We are very happy to see that Belgium officially supports the Freetown Manifesto supporting girls' education. In this manifesto, governments agree to focus on "𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻". Plan International is one of the original supporters of the Freetown Manifesto. 🌍🤝 #UntilEveryGirlisFree

Over the past decades, we have made important steps in increasing girls’ and women’s participation to politics, but there are still huge steps to take! Yesterday, together with the other member of the Federal Coalition for Gender Equality, we hosted an event to launch our new report on Gender and Politics. 📚 Plan International Belgium youth ambassador Louise participated in the panel to emphasise the need of girls’ participation in politics. The speakers highlighted many important topics, including the need of a truly inclusive approach to women in politics and the role of our education system in providing a culture of participation as well as training and safe spaces for girls and young women to speak out. 🎤 Big thanks to Vrouwenraad for the coordination of the event and to the other coalition members CFFB Conseil des Femmes Francophones de Belgique, ella vzw - kenniscentrum gender en etniciteit, Furia , Punt vzw, Vrouwennet vzw, 11.11.11 and Zijkant for this joint effort. 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: 𝗢𝗵, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁!🤩 Last night, we celebrated 40 years of impact at the beautiful Wintercircus in Ghent. Our Corporate Gala was a night filled with celebration, meaningful connections, and inspiration. ✨ Keynote speakers Nadia Aimé and Angelique Van Ombergen emphasized the importance of including women in business - and all areas of life - as role models for future generations. They also highlighted the essential role companies play in driving societal progress by embracing diversity and inclusion. 💪 Our panel guests Bob Verbeeck, OLY, Cédric Van Branteghem, OLY, Sandra Gobert (she/her) and Jeroen De Wit discussed with moderator Elke Jeurissen the powerful role of sports in promoting gender equality in society. 🏅 A special message from our ambassador Neza Violette, joining us from Rwanda, underscored the transformative power of training and sports in empowering girls, equipping them with skills and knowledge to shape their futures and that of their communities. 🌍 The culinary highlight of the evening was a delightful dinner of "soul dishes" curated by Seppe Nobels and his talented team from India, Ukraine, Iraq and Syria. Our 200 guests came together to show their continued support for our #BikeForFuture project in Rwanda, reinforcing our collective commitment to girls' rights and empowerment. 🚴♀️ Here’s to many more years of impact, collaboration, and progress, #UntilEveryGirlIsFree! #CorporateGala2024 #GenderEquality #WomenInLeadership #Empowerment #GirlsRights #SportsForGood

⚽ 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 🏀 Over the past two years, we have been working with Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Plan International España on the project “The gender-transformative Power of Sports for and by Students!”. 🎯 Our aim was to develop an educational tool that helps prevent gender-based violence and promotes safe, inclusive learning environments in schools and universities. 📖 The resulting manual provides a practical methodology for sport coaches and (sport) teachers to encourage proactive bystander behaviour among young people. Today, we are rounding off the project with an exciting day at the headquarters of the Royal Belgian Football Association, including: ✅ Practical training for (future) sport coaches ✅ An expert roundtable discussion ✅ A networking moment to build a community around these important topics in Belgium More info 👇 - In Dutch: https://lnkd.in/emVUHhdv - In French: https://lnkd.in/eW5UgcCn #UntilEveryGirlIsFree #HerSport #StopViolence
