🏆Le 21 novembre, la Fondation Roi Baudouin a eu l’honneur de recevoir la prestigieuse 29e édition du Prix Marquis de Villalobar, décerné par la Chambre de Commerce de Belgique et du Luxembourg en Espagne. Ce prix est un bel hommage au travail de la Fondation pour bâtir des ponts, rassembler les énergies et soutenir des actions qui ont un impact concret sur la société. Je pense notamment à des moments marquants comme les récentes inondations en Espagne, où la générosité européenne a pu s’exprimer grâce à Transnational Giving Europe, que la FRB coordonne. J’ai été particulièrement ému par les mots de la nièce du Roi Baudouin, S.A.R. Princesse Margaretha, qui a rappelé combien il aurait été fier de voir la Fondation qui porte son nom poursuivre son combat pour une société plus juste, basée sur les valeurs de solidarité et d’unité européenne qu’il défendait.🤲 Grand merci à la Chambre de Commerce de Belgique et du Luxembourg en Espagne (CCBLE Next Gen Forum ) pour cette reconnaissance, qui nous motive à continuer notre mission : travailler, ensemble, pour un avenir plus solidaire, en Belgique, en Europe et ailleurs. 🌍 King Baudouin Foundation

[Myriad Canada's new initiative to provide emergency services through charitable activities on the ground with non-profit organizations in Lebanon.] At Myriad Canada, we believe that education is a lifeline—especially in times of war. In Lebanon, 60% of public schools turned into shelters to house the 1.2 million displaced people, over 350,000 children are without schooling, caught in a cycle of fear, loss, and uncertainty. But even in the face of such challenges, the drive to learn remains strong. In response, Myriad Canada is working with CodeBrave Lebanon, to provide emergency education and bring hope to these young minds. CodeBrave offers game-based coding and robotics classes in shelters, combining hands-on learning with emotional support for children experiencing stress and anxiety. Since 2018, CodeBrave has been empowering vulnerable youth across Lebanon with tech skills in coding and robotics, focusing on building literacy, numeracy, and science skills. Their innovative programs not only provide education, but offer stability, hope, and a sense of normalcy in the midst of crisis. With over 2,435 young people upskilled —CodeBrave is giving Lebanon’s youth the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future. In 2021, anthropology professor Heidi Larson joined forces with public health professor Pierre Van Damme to create a new kind of action research organization. The Global Listening Project (GLP) uses in-depth interviews, focus groups, surveys, and other research tools to gain a better understanding of people’s experiences, hopes, and fears, generating insights that are essential to building the trust that enables societies to prepare for crises and increase their resilience.     By building a deep well of knowledge about people’s levels of trust, Larson believes the GLP can enable policymakers to make more informed decisions. “You need to hear what the issues are from the people who know what’s going on,” she says.    You can read more about this exciting story in the latest issue of our Insights below. https://lnkd.in/eWcqqjX7

🎻 A Melody of Generosity: Myriad USA receives 317-year-old Stradivarius Leading American violinist and teacher Charles Castleman donated his 1707 “Marquis de Champeaux” Stradivarius to Myriad USA. This exceptional 317-year-old instrument is now on loan to the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel—a world-renowned training center for outstanding musicians based in Waterloo, Belgium—where it will accompany future generations of talented young violinists as they develop their careers and prepare for international music competitions. “As a violinist, my job is to bring music to people. I also want to pass on music to future generations through my students. For me, this Stradivarius, therefore, belongs in an institution where the next generations are preparing for their future and where the level is fitting for this instrument. The Music Chapel is in line with my wishes and close to my heart,” says Charles Castleman. [Myriad Canada's new project to uplift impoverished communities in remote villages of Vietnam and Cambodia] Despite rapid sustainable development in Vietnam and Cambodia, a large majority of the population is facing economic hardship. Millions of people, notably in rural areas, experience persistent poverty due to inadequate healthcare and prevention services. Debt and disability remains driven by limited access to banks and high education costs. This financial burden deters children from completing their schooling, pushing them to resort to low-paying, dangerous jobs. Women and girls are particularly vulnerable, as these circumstances can lead to domestic abuse. To help these communities, Myriad Canada is proud to announce a new project with our implementing partner Mekong Plus - L'Officiel. Project goals include delivering training and microcredit to over 1,000 households a year to boost their incomes, 3,500 scholarships to children and preventative health training to at least 1,000 woman per year.  Mekong Plus (MPlus) is an international NGO founded by Belgian and French volunteers, dedicated to reducing rural poverty in Vietnam and Cambodia. Since its expansion into Rumdoul, Svay Rieng, in 2009, MPlus has implemented programs in agriculture, health, and employment for local women. The organization focuses on improving living standards, particularly for women and children. #ICYMI Founded by Lydia Charles Moyo, Her Initiative aims to break the cycle of poverty by promoting the rights, the empowerment, and the financial resilience of young women and girls across Tanzania. “Technology is one of our biggest strengths, because we need to be more inclusive—it’s not just about bridging the gender divide, but also the rural-urban digital divide,” says Lydia.  Lydia was awarded the Global Citizen Prize earlier this year. And then in June, Her Initiative received the Africa Prize of the Brussels-based King Baudouin Foundation, in recognition of its work to unlock women’s economic potential, tackle youth unemployment, and accelerate economic and social development in sub-Saharan Africa. Worth 200,000 Euros, the Africa Prize rewards outstanding contributions to development in Africa, initiated and led by Africans. Myriad USA will shine a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of HER Initiative during a 10-day roadshow in the United States, covering Washington DC, Boston, New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area. Through its ‘Friends of Her Initiative’ at Myriad USA, Her Initiative aims to raise awareness of its work and expand its network of supporters.
