🌈 Let’s ban conversion ‘therapy’ in the EU! 'Against Conversion Therapy' (ACT) needs your help to sharing to ban all conversion practices in the EU and make this a European law. ✏️ For that, we need a million of you to sign the European Citizen’s Action 👉 https://lnkd.in/d3TfRyuA ❌ Conversion ‘therapy’ is unscientific, inhumane & based on the assumption that LGBTI identities are psychological disorders and therefore need to be ‘fixed’. 🌈 Love is love is love. Period.

🙅 We cannot keep destroying forests. 🇪🇺 This Thursday, the European People's Party Group in the EU Parliament will try to weaken the EU Deforestation Law which was already adopted by the European Parliament. It poses the question: how can the EPP justify destroying nature? 🌳 This law is meant to prevent deforestation in supply chains and is a key element of the European Green Deal. It would compel companies importing raw materials and products into the European market to ensure that they no longer contribute to deforestation. ❌ For the sake of our planet, this law cannot be weakened.

    • the protection of our forests is vital.

For the climate

For the wellbeing of future generations

For the Indigenous people that depend on them

🧐 Did you know that the richest 1% account for 16% of the world’s emissions? 🤬 They are jeopardising our chances to keep global warming below 1.5°C, and to reverse the worsening hunger, poverty and excess deaths, especially for the poorest. 😱 If everyone emitted carbon at the same rate as the rich are emitting it just for their luxury transport, the carbon budget would be gone in two days. ‼️ Two days ‼️ 🤑 And to make it worse, they do not pay fair taxes like the rest of us. 👉 How can we finance the Green transition you ask? By implementing fair taxes on the Super-Rich. That alone would bring in US$ 1.7 trillion per year. 💚 Let’s tax the rich & save the planet.

🇲🇩🇪🇺 Moldovans agree: they want to join the EU! 💪 Russian interference was very much in action again, with vote-rigging reported. But the people have spoken and confirmed their commitment to joining the EU. ✊ Moldovans have consistently shown they see their future in Europe, despite Russia’s relentless efforts to destabilise the country. They deserve the right to determine their own future, free from foreign interference. 💚 We want to extend the European family & we welcome Moldova’s constitutional changes.

Economic prosperity, social justice & security depend on the green transition. This was the theme of Benedetta De Marte’s (European Greens Secretary General) presentation at the Remarque Institute of NYU’s Art & Science department. Benedetta was a speaker as part of the ‘Europe and the Planet, the Day after tomorrow: Social (and) democratic responses to the climate crisis.’ As she said in her presentation titled ‘Green Ambition for Tomorrow’s Europe’, not only does economic prosperity, social justice and European security depend on the green transition but, in turn, a successful green transition depends on a next step forward of the European project politically and economically. “A successful green transition must match regulation with desirable green policies that improve lives. Protecting the planet, fighting for social justice, and ensuring security for Europe after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine all require renewing our vision of the future of the EU.” The green transition in Europe is balanced on knife-edge majorities. We want to be the political force who actually makes a fair and just green transition happen. The lack of public investment is the Achilles’ heel of the European Green Deal. Green industrial policy will need common public investment to succeed.”

🫸 🫷We need to close the gap! 💶 Gender equality is one of the most basic principles of the European Union and yet, women continue to earn less than men. 🇪🇺 In 2022, the European Parliament launched a new directive for pay transparency that will force employers to make their employees’ salary public and establish criteria to determine salary levels without gender bias. 💚 This was a big win for both The Greens/EFA in the European Parliament & the people living in the EU as it supports the rights of employees & trade union representatives in raising equal pay issues. 💪 Talking about our salaries shouldn’t be a taboo, let’s normalise it so that we can close the gap!

    • The EU still has work to do to close the gap!
How much less do women earn than men per EU country
    • More work in low-paying sectors
Women are more likely to work in relatively low-paying sectors, such as care, health & education.

Unequal share of paid & unpaid work
Typically, women work more hours per week than men but they spend more hours on unpaid work.

The glass ceiling
Less than one in ten of top companies’ CEOs are women. Managers have the largest difference in hourly earnings (23%).

Pay discrimination
In some cases, women earn less than men for doing equal work or work of equal value.

Ursula von der Leyen must continue to pressure EU countries to achieve a balanced European Commission.
