About us
Established in 2010, the European renewable ethanol association (ePURE) represents the interests of European renewable ethanol producers by promoting the beneficial uses of ethanol in Europe. Based in Brussels, ePURE represents 39 member companies, with 43 production plants in 16 EU member states, accounting for about 85% of the installed renewable ethanol capacity in Europe. Our mission is to promote the use of renewable ethanol in Europe by contributing in a constructive and pro-active manner to the development and implementation of EU policies and legislation that benefits both our industry and society. We pursue this by providing expert advice and input to the EU Institutions, Member State Governments, Brussels-based stakeholders and wider society. Ethanol is an important link in the chain for the transition to a European bioeconomy whereby resources are processed and used more efficiently. Using biomass as a sustainable renewable resource is key to replacing carbon fossil sources in the manufacture of chemicals, materials and fuels. 📨 JOINT LETTER: ePURE is among several associations in the sustainable mobility sector that have co-signed a joint letter to European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, calling for a more technology-open approach to the Greening of Corporate Fleets initiative. "We are concerned to learn that the “Greening of Corporate Fleet” initiative will now take the form of a legislative proposal," the letter states. "We understand that the public consultation run by your Services in DG MOVE during the first half of this year, which many of the Network members participated in, produced inconclusive results as to the need for a regulatory intervention. There is no clearly identified market failure, nor a proven case that regulation will accelerate greening."

📡 PRESS RELEASE: EU-Mercosur is a bad deal for Europe’s ethanol sector, for farmers, for food security, for strategic autonomy Even after more than five years of re-negotiation and tinkering, the EU-Mercosur agreement remains a bad deal for the EU renewable ethanol sector, for European farmers and for Europe’s drive for strategic industrial and agricultural autonomy The European Commission ignored repeated warnings from European bioethanol producers and decided to offer Mercosur countries a huge share of the EU’s ethanol market. In doing so, the EU is putting at risk European biorefineries producing food, feed, fuel, fertilizers and much more Read our full statement by clicking the link in the comments 👇 #FoodFeedFuel4Europe #Mercosur #EUMercosur #trade
