📢 Last week marked a monumental moment for Paris with the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral, a symbol of history, art, and resilience. We are proud to celebrate this achievement, especially as Autodesk, one of our members, played a crucial role in its restoration. Autodesk’s cutting-edge technology helped create a highly detailed digital model of the cathedral through comprehensive internal and external scans. This digital model allowed restoration teams to simulate design changes, analyse materials, and study light effects—all without needing to be physically on-site. By anticipating structural challenges, they saved valuable time and improved the restoration’s precision. AI-powered digital modelling was key, enabling modern design approaches through the creation of digital twins. Beyond restoration, Autodesk’s technologies can preserve cultural heritage by creating digital archives of historical landmarks, ensuring they endure future crises. We are honoured to see our members’ expertise contribute to restoring such a global treasure, blending technology with heritage preservation for future generations. Have a look at the gallery of pictures from the exclusive event at the US Embassy Paris to celebrate the restoration of the Cathedral, in which our Secretary General Adrian Joyce took part. Thank you Clémence Arto for the invitation and congratulations to Autodesk! It is brilliant to see how forward-thinking and advanced technologies can greatly contribute to such complex works. #NotreDameCathedral #EfficientBuildings #HeritageBuilding

The Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) provide building owners, potential buyers, or tenants with information about the #energy efficiency of a #building or dwelling. 🔗 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐏𝐂 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭? By May 29, 2026, EPCs must follow the standardised Annex V template and use an A-to-G rating scale for building classification. Independent experts must issue them, they need to be easy to understand and provide details on potential improvements and available incentives. Member States are asked to adopt measures ensuring that EPCs remain affordable. 𝐇𝐨𝐰? Here are some 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 from our Implementation Guide: 👉 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐄𝐏𝐂𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤 Member States must require EPCs at key trigger points (ownership transfer, rental, or cadastre changes) and ensure all buildings have an EPC by 2030. 👉 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐏𝐂 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐲 EPCs rated D or lower should be only valid for five years, encouraging owners to reassess their buildings' performance and explore improvement options. 👉 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐏𝐂𝐬 To enhance EPC quality, it is crucial to train certifiers and use new technologies to streamline certification and improve data reliability. 👉 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 This ensures fair building distribution, helping authorities prioritize #renovations efficiently. 👉 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐙𝐄𝐁 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 The EPC should outline steps and solutions like #insulation, #ventilation, efficient lighting, and renewable energy systems. 👉 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐏𝐂𝐬 Since the EPBD identifies hot water as a major energy use in #efficientbuildings, it should be included in EPCs. 📖 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐨𝐟 EPCs 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐄𝐏𝐁𝐃 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞! Renovation Passports are personalized roadmaps tailored to individual buildings. These documents, developed after a thorough on-site audit, provide step-by-step guidance to unlock a building’s full energy performance potential. 🏠✨ With detailed records of past renovations and actionable future steps, RPs not only boost energy efficiency but also add significant value at the point of sale, offering transparency and trust to prospective buyers. 🔗 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭? By 29 May 2026, Member States must introduce voluntary RP schemes (or mandatory ones, depending on national decisions), based on clear guidelines outlined in Annex VIII of the EPBD. These passports will also help outline optimally sequenced steps for deep renovations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and significant impact. 𝐇𝐨𝐰? In our Implementation Guide, we propose 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 on the Renovation Passports: 💡 👉 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 To successfully implement Renovation Passports, Member States need to be provided with clear definitions and guidance on concepts like “significant impact” and “optimal sequencing”. RPs need to be technology-neutral, avoiding any bias toward specific materials or solutions. Finally, public trust must be built by emphasizing quality and reliability and by delivering information on the energy performance of buildings and the required steps. 👉 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 To reduce costs, Member States should streamline processes by allowing Renovations Passports and Energy Performance Certificates to be issued by the same expert and use RPs to replace the EPC’s recommendation section when issued together, while keeping flexibility for separate issuance. This integration simplifies compliance, reduces costs, and enhances the value of both tools for building owners. 🚀 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝: Renovation Passports are more than compliance tools - they are transformative instruments that empower building owners to make informed decisions, drive market value, and achieve decarbonization goals by 2050. 🌍 📖 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐏𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐄𝐏𝐁𝐃 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞!
