The new EU-Mercosur 🇪🇺 🤝🇦🇷🇧🇷🇵🇾🇺🇾 partnership agreement is one of the most ambitious deals in terms of sustainability. It will: ✔️ Reflect the latest EU standards on Trade and Sustainable Development ✔️ Go beyond some of our most recent agreements, such as the EU-Chile agreement or the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement ✔️ Make the Paris Agreement an essential element of the EU-Mercosur relationship. On 19 November the Council formally adopted the Forced Labour Regulation, which means the legislative process is finalised. The Regulation bans the placing and making available on the Union market, or the export from the Union market, of any product made using forced labour and sets the framework to allow the Commission and Member States to investigate potential cases of forced labour. If authorities come to the conclusion that a product was made with forced labour they can issue an decision to ban, withdraw and dispose of a product made using forced labour, which will apply directly in all Member States. https://lnkd.in/e5jbUXxg Next steps: The publication in the Official Journal of the EU is expected in the next weeks.
