Cities and regions leading the way towards a sustainable use of material resources
About us
ACR+ is an international network of members who share the common aim of promoting sustainable consumption of resources and management of waste through prevention at source, reuse and recycling. It currently has nearly 100 members, mainly local and regional authorities as well as national networks of local authorities representing around 1100 municipalities. ACR+ also welcomes other key players in the sustainable resource-product-waste management, such as NGOs, academic institutions or private organisations, as partner members. ACR+ allows its members to stay in close contact with events and discussions held at the European level, notably by representing local and regional authorities in various forums and platforms of discussion with the European Commission. ACR+ is based on three main principles : * sustainable development * prevention and recovery of waste * partnership between public authorities, private sector and general public . Through studies, bulletins, conferences and seminars, ACR+ allows its members to exchange practical information and experiences, to confront problems and solutions with experts in waste management of Europe and beyond.

🚨🚨Packaging and packaging waste regulation formally adopted by Council! ✔️Today the Council formally adopted the regulation on packaging and packaging waste. It was the last step of a very long legislative procedure. It is now in the hands of Member States to implement it, with 2026 in the horizon. ⭐ Seeing the complexity of this regulation, the road to its transposition will not be an easy one. We take as a challenge to contribute to its "vulgarisation" and will push for ambitious national and local implementation. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dTf3ZnBF

Public procurement holds significant potential as a driver for #sustainability in professional textiles such as PPE, uniforms, and flat linen.🧑🚒 The public sector plays a crucial role in fostering innovation, advancing #circular #procurement to promote #reuse and #recycling, supporting the development of new business models, and encouraging the transition away from unsustainable practices. Additionally, it can champion transparency and traceability throughout the value chain. ♻️ For CISUTAC we identified key tools that local and regional authorities can use to enhance the circularity of textile material flows, with a strong emphasis on citizen engagement. 🌾 Celebrating 30 Years of Balanced Agriculture with Odling i balans! 🌾 We are proud to highlight "Odling i balans", a remarkable Swedish network of 18 pilot #farms dedicated to integrating environmental stewardship with #financialsustainability. For three decades, these farms have focused on key issues like #croprotation and the impacts of #climatechange, making strides in closing the gap between research and practical application. Hidinge gård, exemplifies this initiative with its innovative farming techniques, divided into 10 plots to optimize soil classes and maintain an environmental perspective. Join us in celebrating their continuous commitment to #sustainableagriculture. Local Governments are Key to the #SocialClimateFund's Success! The €86 billion EU Social Climate Fund aims to support vulnerable households, but a new report reveals a concerning trend: lack of consultation with local governments. Local governments possess invaluable expertise and understanding of their communities' unique needs. They are best equipped to tailor measures that effectively support those most vulnerable. The national governments must ensure an active engagement of local authorities to guarantee that the Social Climate Fund reaches those who need it most. The Local Alliance, a coalition of 8 major European local government networks, is raising the alarm. Read the report to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gGB9rtRU Let's work together to ensure the Social Climate Fund truly benefits those it intends to serve! #EUfunds #LocalGovernments #ClimateAction #Sustainability #JustTransition Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) Climate Alliance Energy Cities Eurocities FEDARENE ICLEI Europe POLIS Network
