Greater investment in trust building among stakeholders in the humanitarian system is essential to address the flagging momentum on localisation, according to new research by Concern Worldwide and its research partners which engaged practitioners from local, national and international NGOs and UN agencies. 📖 Concern Worldwide, in partnership with a team of five researchers and with funding support from USAID, carried out the Beyond Barriers project to investigate what was required for the humanitarian system to make progress on localisation, in terms of both the underlying ethical ambition and the change of operational policies. ➡️ Discover more about the findings: https://lnkd.in/dPDeAfXk

Today we joined #ImpactWeek in Bilbao, an event bringing together diverse stakeholders and key leaders in the field of social impact. Have a look at some of the key insights from the “𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗢𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴” session, moderated by our Director Antonia Potter Prentice 👇
How INGOs Drive Impact Finance: Key Takeaways from the Impact Week⬇️ At the #ImpactWeek 2024 Bilbao, at our session with the Alliance2015 we explored how INGOs, like Helvetas, bring unique local insights and established networks to the table — critical for mitigating risks and maximizing impact in emerging markets. ✅ Andreas Müller discussed the following ❶ Diversifying Dependencies: Beyond traditional funding, Helvetas explores new business models, like Impact Linked Finance in Sri Lanka and a Green Rice Bond for Sub-Saharan Africa. ❷ Impact First vs. Return First: Sustainable investment requires balancing financial returns with long-term impact — essential in contexts deemed "too risky" for conventional investors. ✅ As part of the table discussions, Siham Boukhali shared insights from our work on the Green Rice Bond for Sub-Saharan Africa. In collaboration with iGravity, this initiative aims to mobilize $50M to strengthen local rice value chains and promote sustainable agricultural practices. The bond pairs financing with a grant-funded technical assistance facility to empower local financial partners and farmers allied intermediaries. ✅ The Balance of Impact and Risk: The panellists shared important insights, including why NGOs, as experts on the ground, are uniquely positioned to identify high-impact opportunities and push boundaries to redefine how impact is achieved and measured. This dialogue reinforced the vital role of INGOs in aligning impact investments with sustainable development goals while fostering innovative, inclusive solutions. Excited to continue shaping this transformative journey! Impact Europe Dorothea Wawrinka Sabrina Würmli Rob van Hout Emma Farrell Antonia Potter Prentice

We are uniting at #ImpactWeek to boost impact via partnerships with impact investors to: ➡️ Leverage private sector resources for scalability ➡️ Establish sustainable business models ➡️ Integrate pro-poor & gender-focused approaches
Welthungerhilfe (WHH), a member of Alliance2015, will join us at #ImpactWeek to share their insights on the role of international NGOs in impact investing. One example of their investment portfolio is AgriShare, an app that connects farmers to share resources and services. Don't miss the conversation: https://zurl.co/bAgH

How to maximize impact for people and the planet? 🫂🌍 Together with our Alliance2015 members—Ayuda en Acción, Helvetas, People in Need, and ACTED—we are joining forces to amplify impact through collaboration with so called impact investors. 🤝 What distinguishes this collaboration from others? 🚀 By combining our worldwide presence with specialized knowledge on the ground, we as European non-governmental organizations can access multiple connections throughout Europe and in partner countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. This collaboration provides opportunities for local businesses, governments, and academia to work together to create tangible impact. We focus our efforts on: 1️⃣ Leveraging private sector resources to scale the impact of projects implemented in developing countries 2️⃣ Setting up economically viable business models to ensure sustainability 3️⃣ Integrating a pro poor and gender focused approach to support the most vulnerable. We are looking forward to welcome you to our session at Impact Week 2024! 👋 Let's discuss the "Catalytic role of INGOs in the impact investing space – Filling the gap": 🗓️ 28th November, 2024 🕥 11.30-12.45 CET 📍 Impact Week, Bilbao/Spain #ImpactWeek #Collaboration #DevelopmentCooperation
