In the first quarter of the current financial year (July-September 2024-25), Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC. reported a net profit of Tk 1.49 billion (Tk 149 crore), marking a 26 percent year-on-year decrease from Tk 2.02 billion in the same period last year. 👉 During this period, Walton’s operating profit margin declined slightly to 21.38%, down from 22.58% in the previous year. Additionally, finance costs rose to 10.12% of sales, compared to 5.22% in the previous year, driven by increased foreign currency losses due to currency devaluation and higher interest rates. 👉 The financial report highlights that foreign currency losses amounting to Tk 458.5 million, coupled with rising interest expenses and sales & distribution costs, contributed to a reduction in the company’s net profit after tax. Quota Preservation is in a question mark in Bangladesh. I think not more than 10% of all the public sector required employees needs to be preserved. And this 10% may go for backward groups including tribal people & disabled citizens. Other than this, rest 90% should be selected on the basis of merit though proper selection process. We’re to develop our country by giving opportunities for the qualified people. Present policy & politics need to be changed immediately.
