The current system is far from ideal, and it’s time for a massive overhaul. 🔴 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀  Household waste collection, managed by City Corporations, is in dire need of reform. The workers responsible for collecting waste are exposed to toxic substances, harmful gases, and dangerous germs—often without protective gear. They use their bare hands to segregate and handle waste, risking their health every day. 🚛 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀  The waste collection vehicles are insufficient and in deplorable condition. As they move through the streets of Dhaka, they leave a trail of unbearable stench, forcing civilians to hold their noses. Far too often, waste is simply dumped on the streets before being picked up, causing disruption and creating a public health hazard. ⚠️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀  This improper management system is harming human health, polluting the environment, and creating a host of new hazards. Waste should be handled, recycled, and disposed of in a systematic and efficient way, not left to rot on our roads. 💡 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺  We are entering the Zero Carbon Era, and waste management must be a key part of this transformation. Our cities deserve a clean, organized, and effective system. It's time for the authorities to step in, address the inefficiencies, and provide a better solution for the people. I urge the concerned authorities to look into this matter and initiate a comprehensive restructuring of the waste management system in Bangladesh. Our health, our environment, and our future depend on it.

🌟 **Bangladesh's Foam Manufacturing Industry: A Dynamic Evolution** 🌟 Over the past 30 years, Bangladesh’s foam manufacturing sector has become a key player in the economy, serving industries such as bedding, furniture, automotive, and electronics. With over 600 companies, including major players like #SWAN_Group, #Karmo_Group of Industries, and #HATIL, the market is valued at around #BDT_500 crore annually. However, high-end foam products are still largely imported. 𝗙𝗼𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀: 50% in bedding and furniture, 30% in footwear, 15% in electronics, and 5% in automotive, with growing demand in packaging due to e-commerce. Despite this growth, challenges like rising raw material costs, environmental concerns, counterfeit products, and lack of government support persist. The future looks promising, with innovation and sustainability driving growth. To continue expanding, the industry will need to embrace new technologies, explore global markets, and receive greater government support through tax relief and eco-friendly incentives. Doko Recyclers conducted a Capacity Building Training Program for Waste Workers of the Pashupati Area Development Trust. There were 28 participants—90% of whom were women—from various areas of Kathmandu. Under the project: 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘝𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘞𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 (𝘗𝘙𝘍) 𝘪𝘯 𝘕𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘭, Doko Recyclers aims to enhance the capacity of waste workers by building skills in occupational health and safety (OHS), promoting gender equality, and empowering them to recognize the value of low-value plastics. Participants were also encouraged to explore entrepreneurial opportunities within the waste management sector, turning waste into economic resources and creating sustainable livelihoods.
