Diversity in business & entrepreneurship helped Bashundhara Group (BG) to become the leader amongst the business houses in Bangladesh directly employing a workforce not less than 50 thousand which indirectly covered livelihood of half a million people. BG has started operation as a real estate venture known as “Bashundhara” under the aegis of East-West property development Ltd in 1987. This project turned out to be a very successful one & had helped foster the growth of trust & confidence of the urban people in “Bashundhara” Dhaka’s burgeoning population, coupled with a conspicuously slow growth of housing led to the landmark success of Bashundhara. Bashundhara geared up to invest in new fields, including production of cement, paper, tissue, steel, LPG among others. BG now has over 20 major concerns located in different areas of the country. The multifaceted shopping mall called the Bashundhara City has added glamor to the growth of the group. The BCDL is one step ahead in the effort to strengthen links with the general people through the unique offering of shopping & recreation facilities under one roof. Latest addition to the group is its media house titled “East West Media Group Ltd” one of the largest of its kind, which was established in 2009 it now owns Bangla daily – “Kaler Kantho”, “Bangladesh Protidin” English daily “Daily Sun” online portal “banglanews24.com” etc. The media house is also planning to launch radio & TV channel.

    Bashundhara Group MD honoured as ‘Person of the Year’ Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir has been honoured as ‘Person of the Year’ at an international forum for his leadership excellence for industries. Singapore headquartered Asia One magazine organised the forum to highlight the progress of Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa in social and economic aspects, said a news release. Besides, Bashundhara Group is chosen as ‘Greatest Brand of the Year’ at an international forum for contributing to the national economy with excellence in business and industries. Bashundhara Group Vice Chairman Safwan Sobhan also received the ‘Global Leader of the Year’ award for his outstanding leadership in business at 17th edition of ‘Asia-Europe Business & Social Forum’ at Marriott London on Tuesday. On behalf of Bashundhara MD, his advisor Nazmul Haque received his award. The forum highlighted different activities of the Bashundhara Group covering industrial and philanthropic arenas, and media footprints with the East West Media Group Limited. The summit was attended by great leaders – government officials, ambassadors, business owners, investors, royal dignitaries and professionals, including CEOs, CFOs, CTOs and CHROs from across the world.
