*This is a seconded position located in Geismar, LA.
Must reside locally* Description: The MDI3 project is a project group, consisting primarily of a new Aniline and new MDI plant at Client’s facility in Geismar, LA.
The main production areas are being built as modules which will be transported to Geismar the summer of 2025.
Each new plant will have a new modular style MCC building which needs to be installed and energized prior to the setting of the plant modules.
There is other brownfield work in each of the two plants that is scheduled to be complete prior to arrival of the modules in 2025.
There will be significant work involved in completing the connection of modules and installation of RIO cabinets on modules and final terminations of instruments in those cabinets.
Power to motors on the modules will be run from the new MCC buildings to each user after modules are set.
A number of analyzers will be installed on the modules after they arrive in Geismar.
Purpose: The E/I Construction Manager has overall responsibility to manage the E/I construction activities for the MDI3 project, delivering a mechanically complete project constructed safely and in accordance with the design documents and specifications.
On the MDI3 project, there will be two additional E/I field coordinators that work under the guidance of the E/I Construction Manager (one in MDI and one in Aniline).
Responsibilities: Serve as a primary contact to the Project Team for coordination of E/I activities.
Monitor the owner supplied material delivery schedule and work to ensure deliveries meet construction schedule.
Serve as the primary Client construction contact for all E/I construction related matters.
When necessary, interpret Client requirements and communicate such to the contractor to meet the requirements for the Project and Manufacturing.
Supervise the Client project E/I field staff (two people).
Support the client to provide coordination of engineering, construction, and commissioning activities.
Communicate non-conformances to client with schedule impact/cost impact information.
Attend kick-off meetings with each contractor and assist client in conducting meetings.
Conduct pre-job safety sessions with contractor’s supervision.
Continuously promote safe work conditions and practices.
Stop work, if necessary, to achieve required safety performance.
Investigate and report construction accidents (with safety manager).
Attend weekly Contractor Progress meetings and assist client in conducting meeting.
Set up progress tracking system for E/I scope and provide client with progress tracking reports monthly.
Resolve and respond to RFI’s from the contractor as required (technical support from engineering will be available whenever needed).
Maintain records of significant events during the project construction activity.
Take progress photos on a periodic basis and during any significant event.
Review contractor weekly manning and investigate manpower problems.
For reimbursable contracts, maintain close attention to work practices and execution strategy to ensure proper techniques are utilized.
Monitor productivity and work with contractor to make necessary adjustments.
Review all E/I Field Change Orders to assure: Proper instructions are conveyed to contractor.
Proper documentation of reason for change.
Assure Cost engineering review.
What you will bring Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements: Coordinate work between contractors to eliminate disagreements and conflicts.
Sign off and accept completed work from the contractor.
Ensure all E/I scope is completed, punch-list items resolved, Client materials returned, and contractor has removed all trash before releasing final payment and retention.
Assist operations as required during plant start-up phase if requested to do so.
Participate in disposition of surplus owner furnished materials.
Participate in pre-startup safety audits.
Assist client in close out of construction contracts.
Turn over to Project Engineering all as-built information required.
Assist client in writing portion of Project Critique Report applicable to E/I construction.
Initiate back charge requests when applicable.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training: Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree.
