🎄✨ That's a wrap for 2024 ✨🎄 The Ulton Wealth team fully embraced the Christmas spirit this year, with office decorations and lots of good cheer. We celebrated our team friendship at our Christmas potluck lunch earlier in the week. After a busy 6 months, it was lovely to sit and chat and catch up on everyone’s lives and plans for the Christmas break. Ulton Wealth Partner, Kylie Wright, reflects below on what Christmas means to her... I am known as a bit of a Christmas grinch in our team because I am not into Christmas decorations (and to be honest tinsel just makes me feel hot!). When I was growing up, we often lived in rural or remote locations and often the family was cash strapped. Sometimes the Christmas tree was a small eucalypt, but it was always alive and decorated with homemade decorations. Christmas was about having a lovely meal and everyone being able to have a simple favourite Christmas food – chocolate covered nuts, pineapple and coconut salad or even just tinned beetroot. Of course, there was always a steamed pudding that Mum had made and hung in the Kitchen for a couple of months. The joy of finding those Christmas thrippence (handed down to Mum for her Mum) amongst the pudding and homemade custard! One Boxing Day we had to evacuate due to a rural fire, and were told we could select one present each to take. Even as a six-year-old I remember thinking this was weird and I just wanted the family (and the dogs and other animals) to be safe. So, to me Christmas is about spending time reflecting on the year that was, spending quality time with family and eating food made with love. Give the gift of your presence to your loved ones this year! What does Christmas mean to you? From all of us at Ulton Wealth, we wish all of you a wonderful Christmas filled with the joy of family and friends. We also wish you a happy, healthy and wealthy 2025! Please note that the Ulton offices are now closed for 2024, and we’ll be returning on Monday, 6 January 2025. If you have any urgent matters over the holidays, please call (07) 4154 0400 for a list of urgent contact numbers. #SeasonsGreetings #MerryChristmas #Christmas2024

One of the most rewarding aspects of accumulating wealth is sharing it with loved ones, when the time is right. In Australia, while gifts aren’t taxed by you or the recipient, they can have implications for aged care costs and partial-pensions. Before you gift a large sum, it’s essential to speak to your adviser to avoid any unintended consequences. Discover how gifting and donations can fit into your legacy plan in our latest article: https://hubs.ly/Q02_1W7B0 #WealthManagement #FamilyWealth #LegacyPlanning #GenerationalWealth

⛵ Marriage breakdowns, poor financial decisions, business failures and health challenges—life isn’t always smooth sailing. If you’re leaving a gift for your children in your Will, but you want to ensure it’s available to support them financially long after you’ve departed, a testamentary trust could be worth considering. We take a look at the benefits in our recent article on estate planning and wealth transfer: https://hubs.ly/Q02Y9Czm0 #Gifting #WealthTransfer #EstatePlanning #WealthManagement

The SMSF Association continues to advocate strongly against the Division 296 tax, highlighting the uncertainty it has created in the superannuation landscape. As CEO Peter Burgess notes, its passage seems unlikely in the current term, but the damage of nearly two years of uncertainty remains. Stability and certainty in superannuation are vital for Australians planning their financial futures. #Superannuation #SMSF #FinancialPlanning #Division296 #TaxPolicy

The SMSF Association has consistently done a stellar job of lobbying against the ridiculous Division 296 tax. As CEO Peter Burgess states it is "highly unlikely this tax will be passed in the current sitting week and, assuming the election is not called beforehand, its passage during the scheduled February 2025 sitting days also seems improbable." What is a great shame is that we have had almost 2 years of uncertainty in super as a result of an ill-considered Government proposal. What all Australians need is a superannuation environment of stability and certainty, where the decisions we made today for the future can be relied upon without thoughtless rule changes. https://lnkd.in/gsFVywBH
