I was fortunate enough to be a part of IDC Round Tables in Sydney and Singapore back in Mar 2024 on the topic of “Building Competitive Differentiation through AI”. IDC Analysts (Linus Lai & Deepika Giri) covered the top AI adoption drivers for 2023-24 and the top driver from what I recollect was “Improving employee productivity” to stay differentiated. We at Informatica have been helping customers to improve employee productivity especially in the world of data management for quite some time reducing manual efforts where possible. In the world of AI, we are helping customers address three key challenges they are facing: ·      Unequal data access across users ·      Distributed data creation leading to declining data quality ·      Overwhelmed data teams due to slow data supply chain issue Anish Agarwal from Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (DRL), Informatica’s strategic customer out of India, shared how they saved 20% effort per data engineer (repurposed their efforts elsewhere for further innovation) across a team of 30 data engineers using the Informatica’s flagship Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) platform. Just on one metric alone, Dr. Anish was able to make it cost neutral in Year 1 for DRL purchasing Informatica software plus implementation costs followed by cost positive in the 2nd year of using IDMC. Current Gen AI models are not meeting the needs of business, stresses Vinay Samuel, CEO, Zetaris. Feeding AI in a silo is not what business people want or need. Speaking at the Data Engineering Meetup with Snowflake, hosted in Zetaris Melbourne office last night, Vinay argues that businesses want a business wide view of the data. “They want a more sophisticated AI and that is why we are seeing high AI project failure rates. “Unprecedented” Google Cloud event wipes out customer account and its backups UniSuper, a $135 billion pension account, details its cloud compute nightmare. "A joint statement from UniSuper CEO Peter Chun, and Google Cloud CEO, Thomas Kurian." This statement reads, "Google Cloud CEO, Thomas Kurian has confirmed that the disruption arose from an unprecedented sequence of events whereby an inadvertent misconfiguration during provisioning of UniSuper’s Private Cloud services ultimately resulted in the deletion of UniSuper’s Private Cloud subscription. This is an isolated, ‘one-of-a-kind occurrence’ that has never before occurred with any of Google Cloud’s clients globally. This should not have happened. Google Cloud has identified the events that led to this disruption and taken measures to ensure this does not happen again." @Cognizant has launched a new report with Oxford Economics, titled The AI Advantage: Why ANZ is Positioned for Gen AI Success, revealing that businesses in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) plan to invest $15 million in Gen AI this year, which is higher than the global average of $12.5 million.    The report identifies regional and business factors that could either inhibit or accelerate Gen AI momentum, with ANZ’s momentum score being 15% higher than the global average. While this shows the region’s strong confidence in Gen AI’s transformative power, ANZ leaders have above-average concerns about current and prospective employee perceptions and Gen AI’s impact on sustainability.    To scale Gen AI safely, ANZ businesses should create an ecosystem of partnerships that foster talent development and innovation, prioritise AI literacy, prepare their operations for Gen AI, and focus on feasible use cases that can deliver high value quickly. Measuring AI maturity provides a clear picture of how well an organisation is leveraging AI, identifying strengths, uncovering gaps, and guiding strategic investments.
