Are supermarkets engaging in misleading pricing practices? 🥦 🥛 🍞 AAP @Alex Mitchell reports on the current ACCC case. The ACCC said the revenue from the allegedly misleading discounts was significant given they sold tens of millions of the affected products. The allegations relate to 266 products Woolworths sold at different times across 20 months and 245 products Coles sold at different times across 15 months. Macquarie University marketing professor Jana Bowden agreed and said supermarkets actively “exploit” that psychology. Encouraging Progress for Women in SA Wine Industry 🍷 A recent report reveals significant growth in the number of women holding leadership positions within South Australia's wine sector. The report, authored by Dr Jeremy Galbreath of Strateos Group and funded by Wine Australia, highlights that women now make up 31% of CEOs, a substantial increase from 11.5% a decade ago. This surge positions South Australia as a leader in gender diversity, with women also representing 24% of viticulturists and 59% of marketers in the region. 📊 The findings indicate a positive trend nationwide, with women in CEO roles across the Australian wine industry nearly tripling over the past decade. Despite this progress, gender disparities remain, particularly in winemaking, where women constitute just 16.7% of the workforce, up from 8.8% in the previous report. Dr Liz Waters, Wine Australia's General Manager of Research and Innovation, emphasises that while there have been significant strides, achieving full equality remains a priority. 🚀 To further advance gender equality, the report identifies key barriers and offers recommendations, including addressing pay disparities. Current data shows women in winemaking and viticulture earn significantly less than their male counterparts.
