Here’s the breakdown of the key 2024 trends shaping the industry: Evolving Competitive Landscape: ⬇️Market Leaders Shein and Asos experienced significant YoY traffic drops of 20% and 35%, respectively. ⬆️Next.com.au recorded a staggering 105% increase in traffic, gaining strong traction among shoppers from Myer, David Jones, and The Iconic. It also saw a 98% growth in unique visitors, driven by investments in paid media channels and strong organic search performance. 🚀 Luxury and Designer Segment outperformed the overall fashion category with an 11% YoY increase. What’s Trending in Australian Fashion H1 2024: 📈 Oversized Clothing: Search Demand for oversized fashion, including oversized sweaters, bomber jackets, cardigans, and leather jackets, surged by 57% this season. 👠 Mary Janes Shoes: Experienced an 83% growth in search demand, with Wittner capturing 15% of all search traffic related to this classic style. 👖 Jeans: Searches for jeans grew by a whopping 32% YoY. CRNRSTONE recently conducted a quick poll with 500 shoppers about their spending behaviour during the EOFY sales. We asked if they had been waiting until these sales to start to make a purchase, and overwhelmingly shoppers are holding out for a sale rather than buying on impulse. The top 3 categories people are going to buy in are clothing, electronics, and shoes, with electronics leading the charge as the category with both the highest entry point in terms of price, along with being more of a “one off” purchase with people splashing a bit more cash on it. Clothing was the most popular category of intent to purchase with the $100 - $200 price point the sweet spot in terms of spend, with shoes coming in 3rd but also reflecting the $100 - $200 spend most people are looking at.
