Organisations often zero in on cost optimisation during transformations (ie cost to serve), but the most impactful results come from embracing a culture change and adopting a cost-conscious mindset. The real game-changer is empowering staff and fostering cross-collaboration. It was interesting to read Hoshin Kanri and “domain executives” and how I believe it is simliar Product Management in their shared focus on strategic alignment, employee empowerment, data-driven decisions, and value creation across the end to end value chain. #productmanagement #costoptimisation #lean #culture

What if we start reflecting on Henry Ford's approach to process improvement in today's world? Henry Ford revolutionised processes in a very simple way: How to produce more with optimising each worker's capacity to produce, and how to optimise the workflow between workers to reduce wastage. We soon realised two things: 1. Workers needs to be taken in consideration. Overworked, staff will eventually become less productive. 2. Process Improvement needs to be continuous. We can always improve and make things better. Here again, end-users and front staff needs to be the core of any changes as they are the ones who produce and generate value. Ultimately, gains will only be made if changes improves staff conditions and make them save time. The 20th century changed drastically the approach to process improvements with a whole bunch of theories and principles to support companies in their continuous improvement journey: VSM, Kanban, BPM and BPA, Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma, PDCA, Kaizen, TQM, Theory of Constraints, 5S Method, SIPOC, Process Mapping (just to name a few). So what is the problem? Well, all the above methods are great and work very well. However, Process Improvement Specialists work takes a lot of time to study, create reports, suggest changes, review, etc. Following traditional methodologies consequently generates a huge laps time between the start of the project and the delivery, which means elements presented are often already obsolete. This is particularly true in the Hospitality Industry. What are the solutions? With Befficienz, we believe in two key statements: - Small Business do not need complex theories, they need actionable insights using accurate data - in other words, chosing the right systems to generate accurate data, and simple tools to gather and analyse your data for you. - SME's and Larger Sized Companies can not wait until analysis and reporting is completed as it will most likely be outdated. They must get familiar with #processmining. From quick assessments using the latest technologies including #generativeAI, to deep process understanding using #processmining Befficienz is here to understand what you need to succeed. Let's bridge the Data Gap!

"With between 79 and 98 percent of jobs in Australia predicted to be automated by 2030, enabling vast productivity gains, how will this change the nature of work? Generative AI (gen AI) will have different effects on different sectors; however, early adopters in any sector can drive positive change—at the company and employee level—not only in productivity but also in the quality of work. Top-down thinking will be critical for a tech strategy that delivers value and enables an organization to scale. But where will this leave the individual? There will be an increasing demand for people with technical skills, social-emotional competencies, critical thinking and complex problem-solving capabilities, and good interpersonal skills; basic digital literacy will be necessary for almost every job". #ValuableChange Myth Buster #1. A commonly held perception among change practitioners is that people respond to change better if you highlight WIIFM (What's in it for me). But, for that to work you need to factor in the Value Equation. 💯The valuable change Value Equation: REWARD - PAIN = DECISION 🎁It is made up of 3 parts. 1) The Reward you receive for doing something. 2) The pain you must endure to get the reward. 3) The net result of the reward minus the pain, ultimately determining your decision to pursue the reward or not. 🙏Thanks Brendon Baker

71% of employees are overwhelmed by the number of change initiatives at their jobs. Overwhelming feelings do not motivate you to embrace change and get going. The only 'going' you often do is going as far away as possible from the initiative. Defiant helps to create an environment of ownership and resilience during change. Not by introducing new change initiatives but by working with your belief system. We do this via interactive workshops so that the effect is there quickly and on the spot. Want to know more? Have you got an AI policy? If the answer is no, you are not alone. I recently presented to over 800 attendees at Planits AI roadshows across AU, NZ and the UK and I asked attendees what their organizations view of AI was. 26% of attendees did not know what their policy was. Those attendees had no idea what their companies view of entering company information, including code, into AI systems such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Now, surely AI systems aren’t that different and should be covered by existing policies right? In my conversations, the perception from many was that as these systems were ephemeral, they didn’t see pasting code into ChatGPT in the same way they saw check my that code into a public GitHub repository or pasting it onto Stack Overflow. If you need help with your own AI policy, please reach out. We can help you derisk the wave of AI in your organization.

AI hallucinations have been a huge concern for both developers and users and one of the fears that prevent people from trusting AI. An hallucination is when the AI spits out an image or a statement that is completely incorrect but presents it as the gospel truth; such as a human with 3 arms. #AIcoach #AIspeaker #AImadeEasy #AIConfidenceBooster Read this article and learn about how these issues are being addressed by Large Enough.

NOT a pep talk. With any stat on best practices, say it is that 75% of businesses did ABC, there is a 25% that didn’t do it or didn’t do it that way. I’m interested in the 5% that may have learned from it AND they did it in a different way to use an INSIGHT from it and they had 10X the results, 10X team enjoyment, 10% under budget, 10X more time for other things…Tim Ferriss is an entrepreneur that studies and learns from his own and other successes then challenges assumptions and tests things to find the nuance. Listen to good practices because success leaves clues. Then do it your way 💃 🕺 😎

🔴 Technology project paralysis 🔴 From talking to clients and IT leaders, it seems the first 6 months of the year was a struggle and in a lot of cases, mainly keeping the lights on. New Technology or Digital change projects were caught up in a 'project paralysis' caused by various issues including the election/new Government, the continued market uncertainty and the ongoing lack of resource/right sizing internally. However, most commentators, including Gartner, are now forecasting worldwide IT spending to grow as we move to the end of the year https://lnkd.in/e8XBjT89 We are starting to see this uplift in activity across our clients, but one thing our clients tell us, is that they are currently struggling to get through the discovery tasks, pull together compelling businesses cases for technology change & transformation projects and more importantly get the financial sign off. Due to the financial climate, every penny of project spend will need to be justified. Unfortunately, a lot of IT leaders don't have the luxury of turning to the 'Big 4' consultancies for this kind of discovery/business case work, so need another option. At Impellam Project Services, our consultants and tech SME's have been providing this discovery work for many clients, through a co-created SOW. All of our consultants are ex-industry so you will work with people who have “been there, done it”, and understand the demands and pitfalls of your potential project, as well as where the value is. As we are independant, we don't come with dusty playbooks, selling mythologies or 102 page powerpoint decks. We will work with you and your team to understand the story, the project journey and what the outcomes need to be. We then drive the discovery, building a business case as we go and will even support you in presenting it to the Board if required. No nonsense, straight to the point and value for money. 📣 Get in touch if you’re interested in this kind of offer and we can jump on a call to help solve your project paralysis.

A 35% boost in productivity when AI is delivered through a structured programme. Shout out to Andrew Whyatt-Sames and the team at uptakeAI —you’re raising the bar! In psychology, we’re often interested in correlation coefficients—"Does X link to Y?" A correlation of 0.3 can be considered pretty solid. That roughly translates to 9% of the variance explained, which is what many assessment tools are built around. So compare that to when you’re looking at a program that drives a 35% uplift in productivity... that’s a whole new level. Mind-blowing, to say the least. 🤯 If you’re not tired of hearing me say it yet, you will be soon—every organization is in a race. The starting gun’s already gone off, and AI is the race everyone needs to be running!

Big changes are happening in the world of #strategy - are you keeping up? After a lot of iteration I now have a workshop demonstrating the potential of an open strategy approach to manage under the increasing influence of complexity. In conversations with senior leaders this past year, not one has suggested the world is becoming less complex. Most are searching for better ways to navigate it. The workshop introduces the concept of #impliedstrategy and brings a broad spectrum of powerful use cases. The golden use case is to bring steer. The workshop also sheds light over a puzzling aspect of #openstrategy - the semantics changes when you take an unordered world stance. #Openness is necessary for #resilience and strategy an indispensable element of an organizations dynamic choice architecture needed for #impact at scale. Strategy itself interestingly exercises all the characteristics of a #wildproblem - even world leading experts cannot agree on a common definition 😉 Major consultancies are shifting in this direction. As work digitizes, organizations need more flexible structures and steering methods that move beyond redundant control models. ☝ Strategy is the key to that steer - this is its new role. Reach out if you are interested in the workshop. It works best in-person and takes about 90-120 minutes. You can find the latest version here (pdf): 👉 https://lnkd.in/dNb5SGsX #strategyunlocked #thinkingtwice #reimagineagile #stratex

I love this question I was asked when giving a keynote at the itSMF Australia conference today: "How do you deal with senior leaders asking your team to take on more projects when you don't have capacity?" Heads in the audience were nodding furiously. This is a massive pain point for many teams who juggle both BAU and change initiatives. Having led a large Project Delivery team, I know most organisations take on way more projects than they should at any given time (even with Agile teams). But there are trade-offs that come with that. Something always has to give. It is time? i.e. the project takes way longer Is it budget? i.e. you throw more resources/$ at it It is quality? i.e. you cut corners to deliver on time/$ Is it scope? i.e. a grand vision doesn't deliver the promised ROI It still mystifies me why more leaders don't look at their change agenda through one more lens and ask: Should we even start this project? And right now? You've heard the saying "if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well". Effective leaders get this and think long and hard before they kick off ANOTHER project. They also ensure the key SMEs have capacity to contribute, with their boss' approval. And they cut projects early if the business case doesn't add up (and so make room for higher value ones). What else do you see effective leaders do to balance multiple projects? #OutcomesOverHours #Effective #itSMF

#valuablechange Myth Buster #3 I am not good enough. This myth plagued me for years, and many of us don't back ourselves. ❣️Believing in yourself is a skill you can nourish and grow. It is not a case of 'have it or don't have it' 🥎 Nurture it with practice. eg find things you did well and tell yourself about what these things are. ✅️✅️✅️ Practice. Coach yourself. eg say out loud 'You can do it' again and again. Also, ask yourself 'what will l do next' don't focus on why you failed!! Failure is natural on the path to growth. It is how we learn. Review the strategy you have developed and clearly identify the risks associated with its delivery.
