Getting there ... #digitalID legislation is good ✅ and now terrific to see some funding for trials of #digitalwallets and #verifiablecredentials as part of the Australian Government Digital Identity System (AGDIS). Identity is great but only half the story. We need an end-to-end and secure system. It is pointless to be able to prove who you are digitally if you still have to produce/copy/send paper documents and certificates.

Not everyday two of the major #auspol polling firms deliver their latest Federal politics analysis within the same MSM media cycle. Some very interesting polling data after one of the more fractuoua periods in Australian & western society for many years. RoyceComm Nine Newspapers & the Resolve Political Monitor paints a stark picture around cost of living biting alongside a sliding Labor primary vote, a firmer Coalition post Voice referenda l bounce still very strong > 1/3 of electorate 3rd party voting cohort. 2PP all square ALP 50 / Coalition 50.The Age Over at The Australian & the long-standing ‘Newspoll’ has similar trend lines but a stronger Labor primary (a 33% instead of a just 30%) & a retained 51/49% 2PP across party outcome. Three weeks out from the all-critical Federal Budget, technically the last of this first-term Govt as an election will be due by May 2025. Some information was released overnight about the LNP Housing Plan, ahead of today's State Budget reply speech. While there are still many details to come, it's encouraging to see some of the proposed measures in scope, including shared equity programs and major infrastructure partnerships with local government to increase housing supply. New and innovative concepts for maximising church-owned land and utiliising vacant bedrooms make for interesting reading. And if the reports are accurate, there is a strong commitment to achieving housing targets leading up to 2046. Q Shelter is looking forward to unpacking all the details and providing useful budget analysis for the sector. The ACCC’s ongoing competition investigation into Google’s search services in Australia arose from the ACCC’s consideration of competition and consumer issues in its various Digital Platform Services Inquiries. The third interim report of the Inquiry found that Google’s search engine being pre-installed as a default search service on devices was contributing to it being the dominant search engine in Australia.
