The recently published ASD 2023-24 Cyber Threat Report has provided crucial insights into our nation's cybersecurity challenges and opportunities. Findings: 1. Rising Cybercrime: ASD responded to 1,100+ incidents, with business email compromise and ransomware among the most pervasive threats. Alarmingly, ransomware accounted for 11% of incidents, highlighting the persistent risk to data and operations. 2. State-Sponsored Threats: Malicious cyber actors, including state-sponsored groups, continue to exploit public-facing applications and supply chains. The report identified "Living Off the Land" techniques and cloud exploitation as primary tactics. 3. Compromised accounts (32%) and malware infections (17%) were the most common vulnerabilities. 4.
