🚀 I’m making the move to tech! 🚀 Stoked to share that I’ve completed my Business Development Fellowship with Earlywork Academy, Australia’s first tech sales school. 🎓 Over 3 weeks I’ve been trained in foundational tech sales skills like prospecting, written outreach, cold calls, and discovery calls. 📚 Here are my 3 key takeaways from the program: 1. Quality beats quantity in prospecting 🔎 Casting a wide net only to find seaweed isn’t a great use of anyone’s time. Choosing the right prospects that fit your ideal customer profile is important to reduce the probability of finding they’re not a qualified buyer in your target market after several meetings. 2. Show me that you know me! 😜 Before reaching out, you should research your prospect. Having a personalised outreach will make you stand out and get a better connect rate than any beautifully crafted email off ChatGPT. We’re all busy enough as it is, who wants to spend time talking to a robot? 3. Nobody likes talking to salespeople 🙅‍♀️ Which is where rapport building comes into play - you want to build a personal connection, not just a business connection. Have a conversation, don’t just go off a checklist. And be very curious. Talk less and listen more to the customer, identify their pain points. Your ultimate goal is to sell the meeting, not the product. Now, I’m actively searching for a new role as an SDR in the tech space - feel free to reach out if you’re hiring!

Tomorrow marks 13 months at Salesforce – and today, I’m also proud to say I’ve officially graduated from the SMB Bridge Program. This exclusive, invite-only journey for top-performing BDRs has been nothing short of surreal, offering an invaluable foundation to train extensively for the AE role. As I reflect on this journey, one quote has continuously resonated with me, with the kind of leadership I value most: “A true Master is not the one with the most students, but one who creates the most Masters. A true leader is not the one with the most followers, but one who creates the most leaders. A true king is not the one with the most subjects, but one who leads the most to royalty. A true teacher is not the one with the most knowledge, but one who causes the most others to have knowledge.” During this journey, I’ve had the privilege to put into practice the following skills in graduating the SMB Bridge Program: 🚀 Master Account Tiering to prioritize for maximum impact, delivering value with our automation and Anypoint solutions. 🔎 Conduct Value Selling with in-depth discovery calls to analyze client needs and uncover potential pitfalls as a true 'deal detective.' 🤝 Dive into Big Bet Strategy where I’m proud to have contributed pre-SMB Bridge program, by presenting "BDR Like A Boss" and having a seat at the table for these Big Bet calls with Macie Hurst and Lindsey Nelson. 🏆 Completed a Capstone Project with a high passing score, where I identified a customer's current state and presented an ideal future state for their business, using complex web-diagramming to illustrate solutions. I’m beyond grateful to my AEs, who, despite having their hands full with Q3 closing and now Q4, took the dedicated time to conduct recorded mock discovery calls with me. Your generosity in letting me shadow late-stage deals, participate at Dreamforce customer meetings, and join cross-country on-sites has been invaluable. I’m endlessly thankful for your mentorship and time. 🦾 Additionally, while BDRs in my org are typically asked to complete a mock CIO Narrative presentation, I challenged myself to go further by presenting to an actual CIO who is also a valued Salesforce customer. (Thank you, Mr. CIO, for graciously making time outside of your work hours – you know who you are.) Finally, thank you to the leaders who have made a positive impact on my journey – your guidance and belief in me have made all the difference. Here’s to growth, resilience, and the journey ahead.

Just had a great mindset session with Charlotte Leggett and it made me reflect on the importance of mindset within sales 🧠 Where the focus is so often on revenue/targets/performance - it leaves a huge void. The cause of these results. Where a strong mindset is present then confidence will be higher and this translates into better tonality, better conversations and ultimately a better performer. Key tips to improve mindset: - Find what brings the skip in your step - what is it that you can do to bring the flow state back 😎 - Control what you can control - if you focus on your inputs then the output will speak for itself, you will have the knowledge that you are doing everything you can to succeed 😄 - Revisit strong performances- if you're in a slump then look back to when you were flying. e.g great calls, great months, great demos.
