Since John Allsopp mentioned the View Transitions API at Web Directions Code 2023 in Melbourne, I've been closely tracking its progress. Experimenting with it in Angular Spotify has been a joy. While my PR is still a work in progress for a single-page app like Angular Spotify (https://lnkd.in/gY6zQnBi)), it's exciting to see the View Transitions API advancing to a W3C Candidate Recommendation. Moreover, it now supports multi-page apps (MPAs), with the draft for cross-document navigation currently in public working draft status. This breakthrough means transitioning between pages in traditional multi-page apps, including those built with server-side rendering frameworks like ASP.NET MVC, PHP, Ruby, or static site generators such as Jekyll or Hugo, feels incredible with just @view-transition and view-transition-name in CSS! Customised Financial Tracker Update #5: Backbone APIs complete Just a quick update on my most recent project. I have finished building out the core APIs for my app and I must say it was more difficult than I imagined. 😅 A quick rundown on what the core APIs will provide. Key Features: Transaction Tracking: The system automatically collects and organizes financial transactions, providing a comprehensive view of spending habits. Auto Categorization: Transactions are automatically categorized based on keywords in the merchant name, making it easy to understand where money is being spent. This feature uses custom logic that may be enhanced with AI in the future for even more accurate categorization. Category Management: Users can create, update, and manage custom categories, allowing for personalized financial organization. Flexible Reporting: The APIs supports various time periods for transaction fetching, enabling detailed financial analysis over different timespans. What's next: Well I do have 2 posts to share with you about API security methods and how I unit test in NESTJS using Jest but I'll share them at a later date. You get an opportunity today, your next 3 years are accelerated, then you start from a different point, and so your learning and opportunities in front of you keep compounding. ⭐ When you need to make a risky decision, think about the upside and not just the downside. We tend to emphasize too much on the downside- fear and risks. "I could be seen as not that skilled or worthy", and the negativity holds us back. Instead, focus on what you *can* become and find people to help you. ⭐ No substitute for knowledge. Switching back to IC roles helped me learn things in detail. "Are Bengal Cats legal in Australia?" Searching these six words on Google could put your data at risk. The phrase "Are Bengal Cats legal in Australia?" might seem like an innocent query, but hackers are using SEO poisoning to infiltrate these specific Google search results. SEO poisoning is a technique whereby cybercriminals manipulate search engine optimization (SEO) to ensure that their malicious websites appear at the top of Google search results. When users click on these seemingly legitimate links, they are redirected to malicious sites that can steal personal information, including sensitive data such as bank details and login credentials. According to Sophos, the links are hazardous for users in Australia, as the hack only appears when “Australia” is included in the search phrase. Kinda love this new product vision from Xero: ✨ JAX: Just Ask Xero ✨ (https://lnkd.in/epz3d5S7) Some thoughts: ▶ Interesting that the video used in the promo (https://lnkd.in/exE9ajk3) are US English speaking actors. Clearly making a strategic push into the US , aligned with the C-Suite refresh to US execs (new CEO, CPO, CGO, and CMO - all US-based) 🇳🇿 -> 🇺🇸 ▶ Lots of modalities to access (in-app chat, mobile voice, attendee in a zoom call, SMS, WhatsApp, email) ▶ This is in Beta starting in August, so who knows how well this will actually work in practice. ▶ It’ll be interesting to see if users (business owners &/or bookkeepers) change how they interact with Xero & find value in this new conversational interface. I don’t think this behavioral shift is a given. Elsewhere in the ERP/GL world, NetSuite & QBO have also made AI announcements, but to date they have been underwhelming: ▶ QBO has a chatbot (AI Assist), but I have not heard many success stories of people using it yet. ▶ Netsuite has some GenAI, but it seems to be limited to descriptions of e-commerce items ("Text Enhance") & finally getting OCR, years after the rest of the industry. That’s weak sauce. Anyone finding success & killer applications wrt to GenAI in Accounting/Finance?
