Embedded within the TMR team, I'm providing high level technical advice throughout the design and construction process. My role builds confidence that project outcomes, value for money and best practice are achieved on the project.

  • Beerburrum 2 Nambour (B2N) Proof of Concept

    -

Together with Queensland Rail’s commitment to implement BIM on projects greater than $50M in value, B2N was seen as an opportunity to further develop QR’s BIM requirements.

My understanding of the Early Contractor Involvement procurement model informed the development and subsequent investigations into options that increased the efficiency of QR’s design review processes with access to a federated model.

Design Manager for the preliminary and detailed design phases. James managed a design team of 30 staff and coordinated the development of several complex design solutions within an urbanised and constrained road corridor. Building upon the delivery efficiencies implemented during the design phase of Stage 1, he successfully implemented lean construction principles including Last Planner. This approach identified many benefits that eliminated waste and focused the team on what was of value to TMR. Design documentation is currently being finalised and is on track to be completed by October 2019, enabling TMR to commence a two-stage procurement model in August 2019.

  • Pacific Motorway (M1) upgrade: Gateway to Logan Motorway

    -

This project developed a Route Strategy to upgrade the M1 Pacific Motorway between Loganlea Road to Logan River with a design horizon of 2031 and will replace the current corridor Master Plan. The study also identified an investment prioritisation strategy to implement the Route Strategy over several stages.

This project developed a Route Strategy to upgrade the M1 Pacific Motorway between Loganlea Road to Logan River with a design horizon of 2031 and will replace the current corridor Master Plan. The study also identified an investment prioritisation strategy to implement the Route Strategy over several stages.

I was responsible for the development and coordination of Route Options in conjunction with an adjacent study along the M1 road corridor and an overarching traffic modelling commission. The Route Strategy phase identified a preferred layout that accommodated 2031 traffic demands with provision for public transport and freight priority.

As project manager in the Staging and Investment Prioritisation Phase, I advocated for continued collaboration with the consultancies responsible for the adjacent M1 study and traffic modelling. The result was a robust route strategy and link plans with a staging approach that was compatible with the adjacent study, providing TMR a clear approach for future M1 development in this area.
