Here's how you can tap into your existing network to discover new career paths in the culture change sector.
Looking to tap into your own online network? Amazing. If you're tapping into your personal Linkedin network, I would ensure; > Your profile is up to date & accessible > Only join groups that are relevant to what you do! > Engage with communities + join discussions that you have expertise in > Ask for online recommendations from peers > Always be respectful when commenting, discussing or connecting with others. And more importantly, have fun! LinkedIn can be such a fantastic tool to use for connecting with others and building rapport.

Here's how you can navigate a salary negotiation with limited experience in Content Strategy.
Know your worth + have a number in mind that you feel is fair and reflective of your work & be prepared to negotiate! So many people fail when it comes to salary negotiations. If you go in to your review, with: 1. Tangible Evidence: Evidence that you have significantly increased sales/ revenue/ client satisfaction. And, can show this (print it out, bring your laptop). 2. Flexibility: Be flexible to get to the number $$$ that you have in mind. So, if it's a "no" right now, can this be reviewed again in 3 or 6 months? 3. A Plan: If you are achieving your assigned KPI's, adding value to the culture & receiving great client feedback in the next 6 months, can you lift your current wage to "x"? Negotiate & work together = a great outcome.

Here's how you can communicate your strategic vision to stakeholders in social impact careers effectively.
Know your audience! I remember launching an interview series years ago (* sadly we couldn't afford to keep this going!) that purely focused on C-Suite level females in the Australian workforce. Every interview was told as it was - warts and all! And, the majority of these workplace stories resonated with people that had been through sexism, homophobia, burn out or bullying in the workplace. However, we had to be strategic about where and how the interviews were published, to what audience and be mindful that not everyone will like what they read! You have to know your audience + be consistent + ensure that you are factual.

What are the most common communication stereotypes to avoid in PR?
Based on what the experts say (eg; the PR Talent that I'm representing in Australia) it's critical to know the local customs & culture of any country that you are writing about! In short, by considering cultural differences, you can; 1. Create fantastic PR campaigns that resonate with local audiences to achieve great results, and 2. Avoid offending anyone with expressions or words that could be offensive. Be mindful of your words, phrases and spelling!

The award is measured over a 12-month period, from mid-September 2017 to mid-September 2018.
What she talks about: Recruitment expert O’Dea writes about the workplace, career progression, and relevant training, networking and event opportunities. But it’s side project the #LeadingLadies series that O’Dea is most passionate about. “We talk about burnout, bullying, discrimination, the pay gap and more,” she says.
Favourite conversation starter: O’Dea teamed up with Beam Australia’s Stephanie Reuss and Victoria Stuart to discuss harnessing hidden talent pools through workplace flexibility. “It’s about finding ‘hidden’ talent pools looking for work, from parents and carers to millennials with side hustles,” she tells LinkedIn Australia.
What’s not on her LinkedIn profile: “I'm an ambassador for YGAP’s Polished Man campaign for the second year running, to raise awareness and end violence against children.” -

What she talks about: According to this Melbourne-based recruitment expert, “nothing is off-limits” — not even controversial topics like gender equality or how to create a transgender-inclusive workplace.
2017’s most interesting news story: “The same-sex marriage debate and the Australian government’s decision to put the issue to the people as a survey,” O’Dea says. “The conversations that this survey has encouraged have been at times heartbreaking, frustrating and disappointing — and also heartwarming and inspiring.”
What she’s watching in 2018: “Sexual harassment allegations in work environments have plagued 2017, and it’s another story that will (rightly) continue to develop and unfold in 2018. How industry and employers react to the stories being shared by victims and the changes put into place will be something that I’ll be watching and supporting.”

What she writes about: O’Dea, a recruitment expert in her native Australia, publishes a hit series through her company called “Leading Ladies” that explores issues as diverse as sexuality, paternity policies, equal rights and workplace bullying. “I am a firm believer that if employees see that it’s OK to be themselves, and that it’s one of Iceberg’s values, they will feel more comfortable bringing their authentic self to work,” she says.
Her favorite post: “‘Managers aren’t always promoted for leadership or people skills,’” an interview with a NYC PR executive that shined a light on a sensitive issue. “When Suzanne Tonks discussed bullying in the workplace and called employers accountable for openly discussing the issue, our inbox was flooded with emails from job seekers and employees alike applauding us for shining a light on this issue,” says O’Dea.
The story she thought would be big in 2016 that wasn’t: “Job sharing is still disappointingly perceived as ‘too hard’ for many employers,” says O’Dea. “Sharing a role between two high performers will deliver results as well as contribute to a more diverse workforce with a more advanced skill set. Despite research indicating performance will be higher, it’s still not happening.”
