🎄 🎅 🎁 York Park Group works with and is connected to so many wonderful people and organisations. As our Christmas gift to clients and friends this year, we nominated four organisations for them to select one they would like a donation to go to on their behalf. These organisations were nominated because York Park Group has either worked with them and/or because a member of our team cares deeply about the work they do: Paralympics Australia: Helping our current and future Paralympians chase their sporting dreams, transforming lives through the power of sport. Boys to the Bush: Focused on prevention and early intervention strategies for vulnerable male youth, through MENtoring, camps and school programs. Fitted for Work: Helps women in Australia experiencing disadvantage get work, keep work and thrive at work. Find Your Voice Collective (https://lnkd.in/g2A8Jrmw): A community-based organisation for people of all ages and abilities, established to increase visibility, capacity, inclusion and opportunity through creative and artistic experiences. Fantastic charities doing fantastic work. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year! See you in 2025! Hugh Marks has been appointed Managing Director of the ABC. He was previously Chief Executive of Nine Entertainment, a role he held for five years from 2015 to 2020. Mr Marks' appointment comes as the ABC navigates the digital transformation of the sector, with declining radio and television audiences, and he has already signalled the national broadcaster will need to "make choices" about its priorities. He replaces David Anderson, who announced in August he would be stepping down from the role, just one year after being reappointed for a second five-year term. Mr Marks said: “No other institution has the reach and impact of the ABC, and it is a privilege to lead the ABC workforce as we confront the many technology and programming opportunities before us.”

After 18 years in Parliament, Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas has today announced his resignation. "Renewal is important, and after 10 years as Treasurer it is time for me to hand over the reins," Mr Pallas said. Before entering politics, Mr Pallas was the Assistant Secretary of the Australian Council of Trade Unions and worked as Chief of Staff to former Premier Steve Bracks. He won the state seat of Tarneit in 2006 and was immediately appointed to cabinet as Minister for Roads and Ports. His resignation will trigger a byelection in the seat of Werribee. During his press conference, Mr Pallas said: "There are things that could have been executed better but that's acknowledging that we're all human.... I've had my time. For better or worst, I've tried my best." Today's announcement follows the delivery of his tenth Victorian State Budget in May this year, which had Victoria’s net debt forecast to rise from $156.2 billion by the end of the next financial year to $187.8 billion by June 2028.

Former Coalition Minister Paul Fletcher MP has today announced he is resigning from politics, opening up a vacancy in the crucial marginal seat of Bradfield. Bradfield, in northern Sydney, is one of the target seats of the Teal movement. In 2022, candidate Nicolette Boele turned Bradfield from a safe Liberal seat to marginal, coming within 4 per cent of beating Mr Fletcher, who suffered a 15 per cent swing against him. Mr Fletcher, a moderate in the Liberal Party, served as the Minister for Communications, Social Services, and Infrastructure from 2015 to 2022. In announcing his resignation, Mr Fletcher expressed his desire to be replaced by a woman: “The choice of candidate is a decision for our party and not for me as the outgoing MP. I will say just one thing: I think it would be a smart move to choose one of our outstanding Liberal women to carry the Liberal banner in Bradfield." Salesforce Executive Director Gisele Kapterian is firming as one of the favourites to replace him.
