Nurturing our children to flourish

About us

As Western Australia’s only Aboriginal foster care agency, we work in partnership with government agencies and our ever-growing community of carers across WA to provide safe and secure homes and care for Aboriginal children. But while the immediate safety and wellbeing of children is our priority, we have a bigger mission. It’s also our goal to provide the support and guidance Aboriginal children need to stay connected with their culture, promoting a clear sense of belonging, identity and self-worth. So, it isn’t simply about ensuring no Aboriginal child is left without a loving home. It’s also about helping every child fulfil their potential and thrive – socially, emotionally, and in life. 📣National Reconciliation Week 2025 theme announced📣 The National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. At a time when Australia faces uncertainty in its reconciliation journey, this theme calls on all Australians to step forward together. Bridging Now to Next urges us to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us. In the #NRW2025 theme artwork created by Kalkadoon woman Bree Buttenshaw, native plants − which are known for regenerating after fire and thriving through adversity − symbolise our collective strength and the possibilities of renewal. This is a time for growth, reflection, and commitment to walking together. Australia’s history of reconciliation is not a linear one, we have made great strides and experienced disappointing setbacks. Twenty-five years ago, Corroboree 2000 brought together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous leaders in a historic call for reconciliation. We continue that work in 2025, inviting all Australians to join us in Bridging Now to Next - building a more united and respectful nation. See more information on #NRW2025: https://lnkd.in/d3hGDGY6 📌More assets, activity, and information will be released in February 2025. #Reconciliation #BridgingNowtoNext

This National Child Protection Week, we're taking the opportunity to highlight the Family Matters Report. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are currently over-represented in Australia's child protection system, with current trends indicating that the National Agreement on Closing the Gap’s Target 12 (to reduce the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care by 45% by 2031) will not be met. The Family Matters Report carves a pathway forward into how we can ensure that our young ones can grow up safe and cared for in family, community and culture. Because when it comes to our children and their families, our mob knows best.

  • Today is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day . This is a time for Aboriginal and Islander families to celebrate the strengths and culture of their children. The first Children’s Day was celebrated on 4 August 1988 a A day was needed that was especially for Aboriginal and Islander children, to give them confidence and make them feel special and included. At that time there were a lot of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children taken from their families at a young age, with many not knowing their birth date, therefore the date 4 August was chosen to be celebrated each year as a shared birthday.
