Woodside has safely and successfully removed the Griffin Riser Turret Mooring (RTM) and transported it to the Australian Marine Complex (AMC) where it is being cleaned and deconstructed in preparation for recycling and reuse opportunities. The Griffin field lies approximately 65km north west of Onslow and 94km north east of Exmouth. During its lifetime, the project supplied 62 billion cubic feet of gas to power Western Australia’s homes and industry, as well as 167 million barrels of oil. The Griffin RTM removal is another milestone for Woodside in our decommissioning journey, which so far has seen the removal of approximately 25,000 tonnes of infrastructure including more than 200 kilometres of pipe and 100 subsea structures across the Enfield, Echo Yodel, Stybarrow and Griffin fields. Additionally, 20 wells have now been permanently plugged. Minister for Resources, Madeleine King joined Woodside personnel to witness the arrival at AMC Henderson of the Griffin RTM on Heerema Marine Contractors’ heavy lift vessel, Aegir. Woodside VP Projects Australia Ragan Stonier said the removal of the RTM demonstrated Woodside’s continued commitment to decommissioning projects in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Delivering energy security to Western Australia. Released today, the 2024 WA Gas Statement of Opportunities forecasts a finely balanced market until the end of the decade. According to the report, the near-term gas supply position in Western Australia is stronger than last year’s outlook, which AEMO attributed in part to increased supply from Wheatstone, Karratha Gas Plant and Pluto. Woodside’s 40-year-old legacy of safe, reliable gas supply to Western Australia will continue through projects like the Scarborough Energy Project, which is targeting first production in 2026. To keep prices affordable and WA prosperous through the energy transition, new gas supply is critical. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the State Government to ensure the right environment for investment in new gas supply to support WA’s energy security.

Woodside has completed an Expression of Interest (EOI) process for sales of gas into the east-coast domestic market across 2025 and 2026. The EOI process resulted in executed sales of 77 petajoules of gas across 14 customers in the manufacturing and energy sectors. With the Australian Energy Market Operator continuing to forecast future gas shortfalls, the sales reflect the important ongoing role of gas in underpinning energy security and manufacturing in southeastern Australia, in turn supporting jobs and helping keep the lights on and homes cool or warm.
