The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Tasmania is an integral part of our emergency services, and is available to anyone who finds themselves in a dangerous situation. Our highly skilled crew are called out daily for a large variety of assignments - from bushwalker rescue missions in Tasmania’s rugged World Heritage Areas, to motor vehicle accidents or even emergency extractions at sea. Westpac Rescue Helicopter Tasmania is non-profit organisation whose purpose is to engage our communities to provide a world class 24 hour aero medical service. The Service operates two BK117 helicopters based in Hobart which covers the whole of Tasmania, all the islands, Bass Strait and up to 100 nautical miles off shore.
