About us

Vital Core Physiotherapy has been helping our community move and feel better since 2003. We provide high level musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy for women, men and children. Being very active people ourselves we have a great interest in the recreational runner as well as the teenage athlete. We also specialise in Women’s Health physiotherapy which includes pregnancy and post natal physiotherapy, bone health and the female athlete. We are highly experienced, qualified and respected in the area of pelvic floor physiotherapy for women, men and children. This includes incontinence, urgency and prolapse as well as other bowel conditions including post surgical pelvic floor management. We have a wonderfully large and equipped gym for all your strength and conditioning needs as well as a modern and bright Clinical Pilates studio. Evidence has shown that an individualised exercise program is the single most important factor in recovering from injury and we love to provide, support and progress our patients.

  • It is wonderful that the M word is being said more often, and more loudly. It is a time of life that has been sorely ignored and kept quiet / wrapped in shame for the inevitable effects of ageing. Enough of that. If menopause has you asking some questions, know that Jean Hailes is an excellent resource, and that if you have questions as to how this applies to you and your body, chat with a women's health GP, or your physio. Tory went to the International Menopause Society (IMS) conference last month, and was invited to speak to the Australian Physiotherapy Association Symposium. She then followed up with a talk to interested women of Adelaide. She's spent time sharing her knowledge with the team at Vital Core, so if you'd like to know more about exercise, your pelvic floor, and discomforts associated with midlife - sleep, sore joints, tricky tendons, uncomfortable undercarriage, those hot sweats - we have some great tips for you!

As leaders in menopause education for over 30 years, we're excited to see the topic finally receiving the attention it deserves. But this increased attention has also led to a rise in misinformation. In this article, our CEO Dr Sarah White discusses the pros and cons of this new interest in menopause. She shares valuable insights on how to identify trustworthy information and navigate this life stage with confidence. • Tory was out talking to more people about exercising through the lifespan this week - this week talking to Shared Care GP's about exercise in pregnancy and in the early post natal period. This follows on from her recent talks about menopause to Physios and to members of the public, and on the Pelvic Floor to chiropractors.

On Wednesday I was pleased to join Leanne March MBA., MAICD, Dr Jenni Gould, Dr Mandana Master, and Dr Anthia Rallis in their Project Echo for Shared Care GP's via GPEd. I talked about exercise in Pregnancy and Beyond, highlighting current Australian guidelines that there need to be very good reasons for women not to be exercising in pregnancy - that's 150-300 minutes of moderate intensity exercise, plus 2resistance training sessions plus daily pelvic floor exercises. Thanks for letting me join in!

  • We enjoyed hosting Ella at Vital Core Physiotherapy last month, along with other school students and Flinders University MPT students. Along with the teaching we do outside of the clinic, inspiring the physios of the future is another part of what we love to do! Thank you to physios Beatrice Ling, Caitlin Finnis and Thomas for their generosity in sharing their experiences with Ella. #physiotherapy #physiotherapistsofthefuture

At Wilderness, we believe in providing our students with life-long learning opportunities beyond the classroom. This year, we introduced an Industry Immersion Program, allowing students to engage with various industries and universities, including the University of Adelaide, Flinders University, and the University of South Australia. 🎓 We recently had the pleasure of catching up with Ella, one of our senior school students who participated in our expanded Year 10 Pathways Week. Ella was fortunate enough to gain valuable work experience at Vital Core Physiotherapy, the physiotherapy practice owned by Wilderness Old Scholar and Olympic rower, Dr. Tory Toogood. A heartfelt thank you to our industry partners for their unwavering support in guiding our students toward informed career decisions! ✨ #WildernessSchool #Trailblazers #IndustryLearning

  • 🦴 Bone Stress Injuries in Kids: More Common Than You Think! 🦴 Surprised that bone stress injuries are more frequent in children than tendon injuries? 😲 It's true! Kids bones don't stop maturing until they are adults. For boys they may be well into their 20's! Yet teenage kids play some of the hardest and fastest sports. These kids have really strong muscles which produce incredible amounts of force. They have young and easily adaptive cardiovascular systems that means they can exercise for such a long time without getting tired. They often do huge amounts of exercise and training. They often don't eat🍌 enough to support the recovery of this training as well as their growing. This puts their bones at high risk of injury 🦵⚽️ Learn why these injuries happen and how to protect your young athlete from common issues like shin splints and lower back pain in our latest blog!
