Re-imagining community

About us

The Mad Cow Project was formed in 2017 by a group of Australian-based private and public sector professionals who were keen to use their corporate skills to re-imagine how forgotten, maligned or disused assets are valued and harnessed within developing communities. We provide a platform for thoughts to be challenged and for new ways of tackling old problems to emerge. We do this by forming diverse teams, supporting them with experienced mentors, and introducing them to successful NGO partners and communities who are keen to start a conversation. Our members see, listen to, talk with, and experience the lives of a developing community to deeply understand their desires and problems. Our members are given the support to engage in their own areas of interest. Our members have the opportunity to make a difference in a wide range of areas that include: business development, animal welfare, environmental outcomes, peace and reconciliation, gender outcomes, refugee issues, capacity building, social infrastructure and tourism. We are on the look out for people who are curious, care and that are up for a challenge. If you have skills and experience in economics, finance, marketing and business, we are keen to hear from you!

Updates

  • An update on the Mad Cow Project trip to Nepal. Due to the recent flooding and landslides in October and after having discussions with members of Batase village, they have requested we postpone our visit, which was scheduled to happen in March 2025 to later in the year. A core principle of The Mad Cow Project is to work with the communities we visit and accommodate their needs. As such, we will be looking to reschedule our trip to approximately October 2025. In the new year we will also be holding Meet & Greet nights. These will give volunteers interested in joining The Mad Cow Project an opportunity to meet members of the organisation, ask questions about our programs, and gain a better understanding of how we work directly with the communities we visit. So keep an eye out for the date and location of our first  Meet & Greet night.

How might we.... a beautiful way to start a question that can lead to innovative solutions. Design thinking is one of the fundamental components of the 4th book in the Little Go Getters series developed in collaboration with Nicholas Tan of The Mad Cow Project. Design thinking can be applied to projects big or small and is one method enterprising people can get projects done from with a user's perspective. #YouthEducation #LittleGoGetters

  • The one thing we've noticed at The Mad Cow Project is the reasons why people choose to volunteer varies, and is very personal to them. But the one common theme is, they all want to help others and make a difference. And that can take many forms. Many people that want to be involved in volunteering often don't know where to start or who to contact. At The Mad Cow Project we encourage people to volunteer their own way. If you've ever considered volunteering but aren't sure how to start, drop us a message, maybe we can help you help communities. You might even like to join us in Nepal to see some of the Mad Cow projects first-hand.

What makes people ideal for volunteering is their desire to learn new skills, meet new people and work collaboratively as a team to achieve a common goal. They then get to apply these new skills in their everyday personal and professional life. And the other thing about volunteering is of course, not forgetting to have a lot of fun along the way.
