Celebrating the largest ever cohort of Indigenous doctors graduating from the Joint Medical Program! 🎓🧑⚕️ These 18 graduates are ready to make a powerful impact on the Indigenous healthcare network and we are excited to see them shine!

Get ready for an exhibition double header down at the University's Watt Space, next Wednesday the 27th of November! This opening event, at 6pm, celebrates Ngarrama, a yearly community event hosted by the University on the 25th of January at King Edward Park. It also launches Marine Invaders an educational biosecurity card game created by researchers at the University of Waikato and Newcastle's Wollotuka Institute. Mark it down and make sure to pop in on the day, or any time the week after, to see some of the great work our people have been doing!

The second day of the Times Higher Education conference at the University of Newcastle did not disappoint as colleagues spoke on topics I am hugely passionate about. Thank you so much to Robert Greenberg for your inspiring talk on anchoring universities in places and communities, to Professor Susan Ledger for your valuable insights into transformative education, and Kathleen Butler and Nathan Towney for sharing your stories of culture, connection and community and the amazing contributions of The Wollotuka Institute to empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. I admire you all of you and I feel privileged to have learned from you today. Thank you! Umulliko Wollotuka Indigenous Research Gathering As part of the University of Newcastle's HDR Student Festival, we are hosting a Research Gathering at Wollotuka to celebrate Indigenous Higher Degree Research. Come and share research knowledge, and network with peers in a relaxed and supportive environment. We welcome our Wollotuka and Indigenous HDR Network candidates, our HDR supervisors, as well as prospective HDR students, undergraduates, community, colleagues, and guests. The event will be held at the The Wollotuka Institute, Birabahn Building, on Thursday 29 August from 10–2pm. The Zion team received an incredibly warm welcome yesterday from the Mob at the The Wollotuka Institute and the Institute for Regional Futures at the University of Newcastle. They created a cultural space for welcome and connection, followed by a tour of their beautiful culturally designed building and a BBQ lunch. The Zion team gifted some cultural weaving and we were later taken for a walk on Country up at Mount Sugarloaf. We feel very grateful to connect with all the Mob here and inspired by all that they have achieved and continuing to do with First Nations students, their programs and education.
