About us

See Differently is a not-for-profit organisation providing services to Australians who have a severe vision impairment. These services are delivered by a professional, committed and highly qualified team supported by volunteers, drawn from all age groups and walks of life. Blindness or vision impairment can have a severe impact on a person's lifestyle. The RSB is here to assist people to overcome their vision impairment and participate independently in the community.   • See Differently celebrates its 140th anniversary! Hip, hip, hooray! Last week, we marked 140 amazing years of our organisation with a 'Party on the Plains' celebration at our Gilles Plain site. It was heartwarming to see so many smiling faces, laughter, and joy as we came together to celebrate this special milestone. A big thank you to everyone who attended for making it an afternoon to remember!   • Christmas Appeal | Nicole’s Story At 31, Nicole was unexpectedly diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a rare genetic condition that affect the retina and leads to vision loss. Turning to See Differently, she accessed a range of products and adaptive technologies to support her everyday life, along with occupational therapy and mobility services. Today, Nicole counts travelling, bushwalking and hiking among her hobbies, which she does with the assistance of canes, encouraged by her See Differently mobility instructor.   • Appreciation Post | North Haven School A big thank you to the staff and students at North Haven School for raising $384 for our OPK9 Assistance Dogs! Two of these incredible dogs, Chester and Ace, who are dedicated to supporting veterans in South Australia, also paid a visit to the school alongside See Differently Assistance Dog trainers, Pip and Indigo.   • Christmas Appeal | Michael’s Story In 2015, Michael lost his eyesight following an allergic reaction to the antibiotics used during eye surgery. Determined to live life to the fullest, Michael turned to See Differently for support, where he was first paired with his guide dog, Roy, and is now working with his second, Sterling (pictured). For 140 years, we’ve been helping people like Michael see differently and achieve their goals, and we couldn’t do it without you.
