The DLD Project
E-Learning Providers
The DLD Project is an impact focused social enterprise elevating awareness and understanding of DLD in Australia.
About us
Extensive and evolving research tells us what works best for people with DLD but unfortunately these learnings and insights sit in the hands of a few. The DLD Project, overcomes these roadblocks by providing an online platform that distributes evidence-based information, resources and training created by expert contributors from around the globe. In addition to offering loads of free and paid tools and resources to support the Australian DLD community a portion of the proceeds goes to funding game changing DLD advocacy and research initiatives.

Check out our new guidelines for creating accessible research summaries for the Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) community! #DLD #DevLangDis ARTICLE: https://lnkd.in/gTuArgZC OPEN ACCESS ARTICLE: https://lnkd.in/gun-wYGq GUIDELINES AND EXAMPLES: https://osf.io/ydkw9/ A lot of research goes to waste. This is partly because researchers rarely share their results with the non-scientific community. People with communication disorders might find it hard to understand research papers. We made guidelines to help researchers explain their research to people with DLD, in written, visual, podcast and video formats. Creating and sharing accessible research summaries can help your research reach more people and can make more of a difference for people with DLD!

You did it! Thanks to the amazing generosity of the organisations and individuals listed in this short video groundbreaking Australian research into the functional impacts of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is now getting underway. Led by Dr Samuel Calder from the University of Tasmania and his team, this research will be invaluable to support NDIS advocacy and service planning for people with DLD. This project was 100% crowdfunded by YOU. We are stronger and more impactful when we work together for what matters - a fair go for people with DLD. THANK YOU!

Speak Up for DLD in Australia | Write a Letter to our Australian Health Ministers for #DLDday TODAY! We have written to every Health Minister in Australia calling on them to expand the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) to include patients with severe speech and language disorders (including DLD) under M10 items. We have been collaborating with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) on this important advocacy issue and now it is time for Australian families, health professionals and the community to get behind this campaign too. To make it easy for you to Speak Up for DLD we have: ✅ Provided a letter template for you to customise with your connection to DLD ✅ Created the contact list for Australian Health Ministers ✅ Added our Evidence Brief and DLDday Poster to accompany your email You can find the resources here: https://lnkd.in/gePwKs8g

It is #DLDday and we need your help! Only 159 people with DLD have gained access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) despite DLD impacting an estimated 2 million Australians. It's a start but not good enough. We get stuck explaining DLD to the NDIS in their language. We have a critical research project we need to fund to map the 'Functional Impacts' of DLD to show how the condition meets NDIS criteria. We are now just under $4,000 away from fully funding this research. Can you make a tax deductible donation TODAY in honour of DLDday to show you care about helping people with DLD gain access to the NDIS? Please donate here: https://lnkd.in/gfRMft5X

Parker and Lou are the backbone of DLD advocacy in Australia. We celebrate them this #DLDday for sharing their story and helping us to raise awareness of DLD. Thank you!
On DLD Awareness Day, we acknowledge the significant impact of developmental language disorder (DLD), a hidden but common disability affecting 1 in 14 people. It causes difficulties in understanding and using language. To gain insight into the experiences of individuals with DLD, we invite you to watch Parker's story, a young person who approaches life with enthusiasm. With a passion for photography, basketball, and skydiving, Parker shows how he overcomes communication challenges to live a vibrant and fulfilling life. For the full video on Parker’s story, visit the Communication Hub: https://bit.ly/3zZrroN #SpeechPathology #DLDday 💜⭐

The funds raised from the event will provide increased support services for families with DLD in Australia. Thank you Boss Lawyers! 🌟 Boss Lawyers is proud to support The DLD Project Foundation! 🌟 We’ve donated a Peppers Resort Broadbeach gift voucher, valued at $1,500, to be auctioned at the upcoming charity lunch hosted by CloudTec Accountants. All proceeds will go toward raising awareness and supporting individuals impacted by Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). 💜 Friday, 18 October is DLD Awareness Day, a powerful reminder of the invisible struggles faced by millions of children and adults worldwide. DLD affects about 7% of the population—two children in every classroom. It impairs the ability to understand and express language, yet often goes unnoticed, misunderstood as shyness or behavioural issues. For those with DLD, conversations can feel like navigating a maze, creating isolation and frustration. Although more common than autism, DLD remains under-recognized, leading to delays in support. Individuals with DLD are not lacking in intelligence; they just need the right tools and understanding to communicate effectively. With the proper support, they can thrive! 🌟The DLD Project Foundation is making an incredible impact by raising awareness, advocating for those affected, and providing critical resources to help individuals and families navigate this hidden disability. Together, we can build a more inclusive and supportive future for those with DLD! 🤝 To donate and support this cause, visit: https://lnkd.in/gdHXWMRJ #BossLawyers #BrisbaneLawFirm #CommercialLaw #LegalExperts #Litigation #Insolvency #TrustedLegalAdvice #DLD #TheDLDProject #MakingADifference #DevelopmentalLanguageDisorder #CloudTecAccountants #PeppersResortBroadbeach #SupportLocal #DLDAwareness Boss Lawyers Mark Harley
