Yesterday we celebrated our 'Everyone's a Winner' end of year Get together on Kaurna, Gadigal and Wurundjeri lands with the whole TACSI team. 2024 has been a huge year for us and we were thrilled to close out the year with our two new co-CEO's and the whole TACSI family and have some fun. We also wish all our wonderful clients and friends of TACSI the best for the end of 2024, see you all in 2025.

As TACSI enters its 16th year, we’re thrilled to announce the appointment of Kerry Jones and Chris Vanstone as our co-CEOs, heralding a new chapter in the organisation’s leadership and growth. Chris expressed enthusiasm for shaping TACSI’s strategic direction, saying: “Together, we aim to strengthen the field of social innovation, deepen our allyship with First Nations peoples, and diversify the ways we create value through new partnerships in learning, knowledge, ideas, and workforce development.” Kerry echoed this excitement, highlighting opportunities for collaboration: “We are thrilled to build on our incredible partnerships with government, not-for-profits, philanthropy, universities, and learners. On Kaurna, Gadigal and Wurundjeri lands our team has just wrapped up our final All In for 2024. Inspired by thoughts of the future we can all create, we were led by First Nation's thinking and dreaming on day one to paint and create reflections around the work we do on country. In our own unique style we celebrated the work of each other and our peers with an afternoon creating hand crafted trophies for each team member leading us to day two....where we imagined the potential of social innovation and where TACSI could be in 3 years. These All In's are valuable time for us to come together, share, relate and grow our own connective tissue as a multidisciplinary team as we close off 2024 and look to a bright 2025.

A new report from the James Martin Institute for Public Policy has highlighted the importance of putting human relationships at the heart of reform of the out-of-home and child protection system. We’re thrilled to see our Family by Family program cited in this report, specifically called for achieving a 90 percent success rate in improving family life, with a cost-benefit ratio for governments of 1:7. Many experts predict that the forces shaping the second quarter of the 21st century – climate change, extremism, and machine intelligence – will accelerate inequality and marginalisation, unless we choose to do something about it. In response, with seed funding from the Paul Ramsay Foundation, we’re starting the National Futures Initiative. The ambition is to create the opportunity and resources for individuals, communities and organisations to explore the future and inform the development of services, policies and systems that will shape it. Did you know that carers contribute over 2.2 billion hours of care annually, or 42 million hours weekly across Australia? At TACSI, we’re proud to recognise National Carers Week, which runs from October 13th to 19th. This week is dedicated to celebrating, supporting and raising awareness for the 3 million Australians who selflessly care for a family member or friend. We’re committed to supporting carers through our Weavers peer support program, which provides a flexible model that can be adapted to various caregiving situations. We consistently work within the peer space across our projects, promoting and informing peer practice. National Carers Week is the perfect time to shine a light on the critical needs of carers and celebrate organisations like Mission Australia Shoalhaven, Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra, and Illawarra Women's Health Centre, who have embedded peer support in their carer services.
