To celebrate the end of a successful year, as well as our recent move to a brand new office, this year's wrap-up party was also a housewarming! Held in our spacious new dining and balcony area with sweeping views of Brisbane, the #AusHSI team enjoyed catching up and relaxing over delicious food and drink. 🎅🏠 A big shoutout to everyone who made the afternoon so much fun and brought their A-game to the annual round of Bad Santa, which got everyone strategising to steal the best gifts! 🤼🎁

What do families want in a financial aid model when their child is diagnosed with cancer? QUT, in partnership with the Child Health Research Centre (CCHR) and Redkite, is conducting a study to explore preferences. If you or someone you know is eligible and interested, you can help shape support options through a short online survey 👇

Congratulations to Dr Qing Xia, #AusHSI Research Fellow - Health Economics, who has been awarded a 2024 Carla Patterson Memorial Grant for research on end-of-life care preferences and how they differ between culturally and linguistically diverse individuals and the general Australian population.
Congratulations to the 2024 Carla Patterson Memorial Grant recipients: Kathryn Kynoch and Qing Xia. Kate’s project aims to improve care for frail older patients admitted to hospital through alignment with the Asia-Pacific Clinical Practice Guidelines. Qing’s project aims to understand the end-of-life care preferences, and how these preferences differ between culturally and linguistically diverse individuals and the general Australian population. The Carla Patterson Memorial Grants honour the memory of Professor Carla Patterson who dedicated her life to public health research at QUT. These Grants continue Carla’s legacy by supporting the development of early- and mid-career researchers in public health research. #QUT #QUTHealth #QUTResearch

#HSR24 Day 3 opened with a plenary on the current state of decision making in #healthcare by international keynote speaker, Prof Michael Drummond (University of York), sponsored by The Australian Centre for Health Services Innovation (AusHSI). This was followed by a panel discussion on #healtheconomics in the digital era, facilitated by #AusHSI Prof Steven McPhail and including Prof Mike Drummond, Prof Jason Pole and Prof Tracy Comans (UQ Centre for Health Services Research) and Prof Julie Ratcliffe (Flinders University). Chaired by #HSRAANZ President, Dr Alison Pearce, the final plenary featured a panel of funder and policy makers on the future landscape for #healthservicesresearch with Dr Catherine de Fontenay (Comissioner, Productivity Commission), Dr RAELENE DONOVAN (eHealth Queensland), Julie Andrews (HCF Australia) and A/Prof Philip Haywood (University of Sydney). Still many cautions and considerations for #healthservices research in the digital age, but also so many opportunities!
