🗓️ For half the population today is not just a Tuesday, according to Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) president Michele O'Neil. "Today is the day that women effectively start working for free in Australia ... The gap is still so much that it means effectively … there's 42 days in the year that women have the equivalent of working without pay, compared to men," Ms O'Neil said. A new report says the gender pay gap, somewhere between 11.5 and 21.7 per cent. Whilst it's narrowing much faster than it was previously, here at The 100% Project we're looking forward to seeing the what progress some of Australia's best-known companies have made in the past year. 📊 https://lnkd.in/gdNbnV8E

Many men are feeling a sense of loss in the face of affirmative actions like gender quotas, which contributes to resistance. What if we created a psychologically safe space to acknowledge that loss? Our research suggests that this would mean less resistance so that we can move forward together for a more gender-equal world. Frances Feenstra, Gillian Harris and Kat Stevenson had the privilege of sharing this research last week at the #IOP2024 Conference in Perth to an engaged and thoughtful audience of organisational psychologists. 📎 Want to read more? Progress isn’t linear, and the same can be said about gender equality in Australia’s advertising and media industry. This week, the unfortunate reality of publishers like Campaign Brief reinforcing outdated male stereotypes has come into focus. It raises the question: is this what agencies really look like behind closed doors? At The 100% Project alongside Jasmin Bedir and INNOCEAN Australia, we’re committed to uncovering the truth. Our work on Gender in the Media continues as we dig deeper into these systemic issues. Stay tuned - 2025 will be an eye opener. #genderequality #mediatransparency #representationmatters #The100PercentProject
