Much like an F1 car, there are so many parts of a tennis player’s engine that need to be developed and engineered for their career to thrive. A critical area of importance is spinal health and mobility with the modern game placing hefty demands on a player’s back, mobility and joint mechanics. Backsync is revolutionising spinal health and will pilot their SEG-B product as part of Tennis Australia’s AO StartUps program. The smallest of margins make every difference in athlete performance and this summer our athletes are enhancing their game through the adoption of wearable resistance garments thanks to LILA part of AO StartUps. LILA’s Exogen technology offers immense potential for enhancing tennis performance by training load into specific movement areas such as serve arm speed or leg drive. The range includes micro-load plates so the loading can be easily attached by hook and loop fastening and the resistance then customised to each individual athlete. Family, friends & tennis legends farewelled Neale Fraser at a state funeral at St Patrick’s Cathedral.
Yesterday, we gathered to bid farewell to Neale Fraser at St Patrick’s Cathedral, followed by a wake at Rod Laver Arena. The heartfelt tributes from family, friends, and players who knew him best were profoundly moving - a fitting send-off for a man whose 91 years were filled with extraordinary accomplishments and an enduring passion for tennis. From Roger Federer’s touching condolences sent to Neale’s wife, Thea, to John Fitzgerald’s thoughtful eulogy and the cherished memories shared by Neale’s daughter, Melissa, every word painted a vivid picture of a life lived with passion and purpose. “Work hard at something you love,” Neale told his five children. “If you work hard, you’ll create opportunities.” As Fitzy beautifully noted, Neale had a unique gift for bringing together diverse personalities during his remarkable 24-year tenure as Davis Cup captain. He was one of a kind, a man who left an indelible mark on Australian tennis and the lives of all who knew him. Vale, Neale Fraser.
