What is the Virtual Shift? Senior Product Manager William Grant's #DHWNZ2024 day 2 presentation highlighted how virtual care technology is driving a paradigm shift towards sustainable, patient-centric healthcare models. William presented powerful results from a study co-authored by Telstra Health and Mackay Hospital and Health Service including: ▪️ A reduction in hospital readmissions (from 43% to 21%) and length of stay, leading to average cost savings of $3,698 per admission. ▪️ Significant improvements in clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. ▪️ The critical need to address privacy, data security, and technology usability for scalable success. These findings prove that integrating virtual care not only enhances patient care but also delivers substantial cost savings, making it the ideal solution for NZ health systems navigating rising costs and capacity constraints. Exciting news! The introduction of this Bill into the Australian Parliament is a significant step toward a more person-centered healthcare system. At Telstra Health, we’re proud to support Australia’s vision for healthcare transformation, powered by secure, real-time data sharing. I would like to take this opportunity to share with my network that the Minister for Health and Aged Care has today introduced new legislation into the Australian Parliament to shift the My Health Record system from a system where health information is shared to consumers ‘by exception’ to a system where health information is shared to consumers ‘by default’ - beginning with pathology and diagnostic imaging reports. In particular I would like to thank my team at the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and our colleagues in the Australian Digital Health Agency for the 18 months of work that has led up to the introduction of the Bill. From the national public consultation through to the policy development with our stakeholders to enable today to occur - thank you! There will be lots of publicly available information about this Bill on the Departments website shortly. Here is a link to the Bill: https://lnkd.in/gz8bUjfB Thank you to everyone out there that has contributed to getting this important reform introduced. Lots more hard work ahead of us, but great to be able to share it all with the world today. Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care Australian Digital Health Agency
