What is the Virtual Shift? Senior Product Manager William Grant's #DHWNZ2024 day 2 presentation highlighted how virtual care technology is driving a paradigm shift towards sustainable, patient-centric healthcare models. William presented powerful results from a study co-authored by Telstra Health and Mackay Hospital and Health Service including: ▪️ A reduction in hospital readmissions (from 43% to 21%) and length of stay, leading to average cost savings of $3,698 per admission. ▪️ Significant improvements in clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. ▪️ The critical need to address privacy, data security, and technology usability for scalable success. These findings prove that integrating virtual care not only enhances patient care but also delivers substantial cost savings, making it the ideal solution for NZ health systems navigating rising costs and capacity constraints.
