We welcome the Federal Government’s focus on suicide prevention and mental health in the MYEFO announcement. Investments to implement key recommendations from the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, postvention services, workplace suicide prevention, and initiatives for priority populations like First Nations people, young people, and LGBTIQ+ communities are vital steps forward. However, with men making up three-quarters of suicide deaths, we are disappointed to see limited focus on initiatives targeted at this high-risk group. Long-term reform must include tailored support for all Australians. Jim Chalmers MP Emma McBride Mark Butler MP #MYEFO #SuicidePrevention
