In 2021, our Founding Director Graham McCabe prepared several EV uptake forecasts as part of the ACT EV Ready Developments work he led. Now, using real-world data from the ACT Government, he has prepared a new forecast, suggesting EVs will hit 50 per cent of new passenger vehicle sales in the ACT by 2031, following overseas trends, with the majority of vehicles being electric by 2039. If you're in the #property industry or a local council wanting to understand how #EVs affect you, come here me talk about the future of charging at the Chargeup Australia 2024 conference in Melbourne on December 2. Do you work in the #Property Industry and don't know where to start when it comes to #Electric #Vehicle (#EV) #Charging? Our Founder, Graham McCabe, gave the lowdown on why the industry should not always listen to charging providers at the Australian Electric Vehicle Association (AEVA) Conference. For example, recommending that Shopping Centres, supermarkets, and hospitality providers provide more than 7kW AC per charger means that shoppers would have to abandon their trolleys to move their vehicles. Solving Transportat Engineering Problems & #publicspeaker who #makesbetterplaces. RPEng FAITPM, AITPM NSW Branch President
"Just get on with it." That's the very clear message from NSW Planning Minister, Paul Scully to councils. I asked him and Transport Minister, Jo Haylen about local government reluctance to increase housing along bus corridors without the state government increasing service frequency to match. Thanks to Business Illawarra for hosting this event, which was well-chaired by Paula Martin. STEP Advisory #makesbetterplaces.

🚃 Rethinking Transport: Income and Car Ownership 🚗 vs. Access in Australian Cities 💸 When it comes to urban transport models, conventional wisdom suggests car ownership and income levels are pivotal in determining how people choose to travel, especially regarding commuting to work. Simply put -higher income and car ownership equals a higher likelihood of car usage. But does this correlation hold up under scrutiny? Many #urbanists and #transportplanners focus on car ownership, but as anyone who has travelled to Japan (and walked around their metro areas) knows they can squeeze a Kei Car into the smallest space and ownership does not equate to usage. By analysing the Australian Census for weighted average personal income and car ownership, a pattern emerges that shows that having access to robust transport options significantly outweighs the importance of car ownership in travel choices, with higher-income people using public transport when it is available, frequent and convenient. What do you think? Comment below and follow STEP Advisory for more insights as we #makebetterplaces.
