2024 was a huge year for Pakenham 🚗✨ We wrapped up major upgrade works on the Princes Freeway, McGregor Road and Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road, opening new lanes and paths for all to enjoy. Plus, the Pakenham Level Crossing Removal Project completed its major works. These upgrades have made travel safer and smoother for more than 100,000 journeys every day. Major works on the Mickleham Road Upgrade – Stage 1 are now complete - more than six months ahead of schedule! Initially scheduled for mid-2025, the project team recently opened all lanes, providing a huge boost to the road’s capacity between Somerton Road and Dellamore Boulevard. Along with upgraded intersections, new sections of shared path, and better connectivity, this project improves travel for all motorists. As part of the Craigieburn Road Upgrade, local artists were invited to contribute to an art trail featuring 30 traffic signal cabinets at 15 different locations along Craigieburn Road. The artwork not only celebrates sub-themes such as community, connection, travel, history, culture, diversity, environment, nature, and sustainability but also tells the story of "what makes Craigieburn unique." The beauty of nature 🌱🏞 In February this year, our Bogong High Plains Road Landslip team started a hydroseeding process which involved spraying a mixture of water, seed, fertilizer and binding agent from a specially designed hydroseeding truck across 25,000m2 of land near the road. Fast forward 9 months and we have our first eucalypt saplings growing out of the ground 🙌 Nearby, timber felled from the project has been used to stabilise the bank of the Kiewa, as part of a partnership program with the North East Catchment Management Authority. This timber has not only benefited the river rehabilitation but helped to build instream woody habitats crucial for waterway health and biodiversity. You can’t ‘kerb’ the enthusiasm of our team on the Epping Road Upgrade! Whether it’s building the project’s additional lanes or putting the finishing touches on kerbs and parking spaces, we’re working hard to deliver safe and reliable infrastructure. M80 Ring Road Completion having an Impact. Through a partnership with Yooralla and its Impact Program, the M80 Ring Road Completion team is creating valuable work experience opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. The team recently welcomed Impact Program participants with site tours to learn about the project and how it connects to the North East Link tunnels, engaging sessions on safety, culture and teamwork. Two participants have joined the team for three months' work experience. Owen is working with Shining Knight Facility Services at our AK Lines Reserve site with his support worker, Sabrina. While Letitia has joined the Safety team in the office with her support worker, Luke. This is one way we’re building inclusive workplaces. #InternationalDayofPeoplewithDisability #IDPwD

PSA 📢 We’re pleased to announce that all lanes underneath the Kilmany Bridge are now open, bringing major construction to a close on Stage 3 of the Princes Highway East Upgrade! Together with our construction partners BildGroup, Laing O'Rourke, and Whelans Group, stage 3 works included: ✅Strengthening and widening the existing highway, creating additional lanes to provide a consistent two-lane highway across Flynn, Kilmany and Kilmany East ✅Improving safety, with the construction of a centre median and installation of safety barriers ✅Upgrading six intersections and building two new U-turn facilities ✅Improving local road and private access to the highway, including a service road for the Kilmany township. With 43 kilometres of duplicated highway and upgrades to more than 20 intersections across the three stages, motorists will enjoy safer travel heading to the snowfields and Gippsland lakes. Please note finishing works are ongoing throughout Summer.
