Sara Woodroffe thank you for attending the Primary Care Diabetes Society of Australia Conference! It was such an inspiring day and we were so happy that you and Nick Chappel could be apart of it! The advocacy for all disciplines to collaborate for a true person centred approach is incredibly important, and yes, Exercise Physiologists play an integral role in the health care team and it was truly wonderful to see such a strong attendance of EP’s and to have the suppport of volunteers from Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) organised by Matt Pollard and the Victorian state chapter 😇
Yesterday Nick Chappel and I (Sara Woodroffe) had the pleasure of attending the Primary Care Diabetes Society of Australia Conference. The event was kicked off with a presentation from Tina Penick Brock, Director of Collaborative Practice Centre at Uni Melbourne. Tina put a new spin on HbA1C - Health Behaviours Are 1mproved by Collaboration. This appropriately sums up the vibe of the whole conference. An incredible group of people looking for new ways we can collaborate for the betterment of people living with Diabetes. It warmed my heart throughout the day to hear people talking about the need for Exercise Physiologists. We were in every conversation. This is a space we, as a profession are accepted as standard care. All the years of advocacy by people like Nicole French are paying dividends. As an EP of nearly 20 years it was a proud movement to reflect on how far we have come.

🎬 And…that’s a wrap! 🎬 Thank you to all our delegates, speakers, exhibitors and sponsors for making the 2024 Primary Care Diabetes Conference a huge success! We loved hearing your questions, insights, experiences and ideas. The vibe in the room throughout the day was buzzing (or was that thanks to the smarties 😉). It was truly a great day filled with new knowledge, reflections and meeting friends old and new. Not forgetting the board members who put it all together: Dr Rajna Ogrin, Ralph Audehm, Ivan Chan, Nicole French, Amira Howari, Viktoria (we let her off the hook today as it’s her birthday - happy birthday!) and Ashley Ng. Time for a breather, reset and onto our next big thing! Meanwhile, catch you at one of our future webinars!
