Starting 1st January 2025, new NDIS participants will receive an Impairment Notice: ✅ It highlights how a disability affects daily life, not just the diagnosis. ✅ Supports must align with the listed impairments under updated rules. What this means: 🔹 Supports like ramps or wheelchairs will be easier to justify if physical impairments are listed. 🔹 It could be tougher to access other supports if impairments like mental health aren’t included. These changes underscore the need for clear, accessible info to help everyone understand and prepare. When people have the right details, they can make informed decisions about their care and ask the right questions. Stay tuned for more important updates! #PNRC #Updates #DisabilitySupport #NDIS2025

Let’s Talk About the NDIS Act & Impairment Notices 📝 If you’re a support worker or NDIS business, you might’ve heard about the NDIS Act update and new Impairment Notices coming in 2025. But here’s the thing – too often, these updates are buried in complex language that makes it harder for the people who need to know what’s changing and why it matters. At Support Worker Store, I believe in breaking things down into simple, clear information so everyone – from support workers to participants – can stay in the loop and feel empowered. Here’s the short version: 🗓 Starting 1st January 2025, new NDIS participants will receive an Impairment Notice. 📋 It focuses on the functional impact of a disability, not just the diagnosis. 🔎 Supports will need to directly link to the impairments listed in the notice – a big change under the Reasonable & Necessary (R&N) rules. Why does this matter? 🔹 If a participant has a physical impairment listed, they can access support like ramps or wheelchairs ✅ 🔹 But if something like psychosocial impairments (e.g., mental health) isn’t listed, it could be harder to justify support. ❌ This update might feel like a "chicken or egg problem" for some participants right now. That’s why we need to keep sharing this info in ways people can actually understand – no fluff, no jargon, just clear facts. Because when people understand what’s going on, they can ask the right questions and get the right support. Let’s keep the NDIS a space where everyone feels informed and supported. Have questions about the Impairment Notices or want to learn more? Drop them below or follow along for more easy-to-understand updates. Sarah 😊

The NDIS Commission emphasizes compliance with the Code of Conduct to ensure ethical sales practices. Avoid misleading claims about participant income, registration status, and management ease. Integrity matters in every step of the process! #NDIS #BusinessEthics #NDISCompliance
Director of Engels Floyd Quality Consulting - Australia's most experienced NDIS and human Services consulting company.
We see an increasing number of NDIS businesses for sale, and can get asked for advice. The NDIS Commission has provided guidance about how the NDIS Code of Conduct applies to advertising and engaging in sale negotiations. This includes acting with honesty and integrity and not: ✅ falsely claiming that participants and their plans are a guaranteed source of income ✅ making statements inferring that participants and their plans are commodities or assets for sale ✅making statements that the buyer provider can operate with minimal management ✅falsely claiming that the provider is an NDIS registered provider ✅falsely claiming that if the provider is registered, that its registration will not be reviewed by the NIS Commission after the sale. #ndisconsultant #ndisregistration

Recent updates to NDIS claim laws may create new hurdles for providers in delivering participant support: 1️⃣ Total Budget Claiming: Providers must focus on overall budgets rather than itemized services. 2️⃣ Flexibility in Funds: Unused funds can now be shifted across support categories. 3️⃣ Complexity in Billing: Total budget frameworks may complicate claim tracking.
