This week the Next community donated boxes of food to Foodbank SA & NT to help families across South Australia who would otherwise be going without nourishment this Christmas. Our Next members and friends and family of the community generously and thoughtfully donated a range of goods. Here is what we have proudly been able to supply to families in need this Christmas: 🍏 136 tins - tuna, Milo, baked beans, spaghetti, fruit, vegetables 🍝 63 bags - pasta, rice, sugar, flour 🥣 41 boxes - tea bags, cereal, toothpaste ☕️ 33 jars - coffee, jam, vegemite, pasta sauce 🍜 11 packs - noodles, tampons, toothbrushes 🥛 9 cartons - long life milks 🧴 6 bottles - moisturiser, body wash Thank you to everyone who contributed to this important cause. #fooddrive #christmasgiving #generosityofspirit

While the majority of the team will be on holidays from Friday the 20th of December to Sunday the 5th of January 2025, the Next Workspace will remain open to any of our community members who have an access card. While our reception staff will be enjoyed a well-earned break, so technically the office will be unmanned, you will still be able to contact the Next Workspace General Manager, Lisa Pritchard, for any office related needs or questions. To mark our first full year running, the Next community is proudly participating in a Christmas food drive, with donations going to Foodbank SA & NT supporting people in need this Christmas 🎄 If you are a member of our Next community, or will be visiting our office in between now and Monday 16th December, consider bringing in a donation. We welcome non-perishable pantry items, personal hygiene and household items. Donated items must be unopened, in their original packaging with full ingredient and allergen listing, and within their best before date. This afternoon our team was visited by Troy Hampton and Nicholas Heard from Heard Financial. Our last Lunch N Learn of the year was one that was rich in valuable information - and in Haigh’s choccies - that were gifted to, and very much enjoyed, by the attendees! The presentation was on ‘Fundamentals of Financial Planning’, as well as learning how Heard Financial got started, where it is now, and why clients come to them for advice. What an inspiring evening it was last night, at our latest Business Professional Women event hosted here at Next! ✨ The engaging Wendy Teasdale-Smith led another great conversation, interviewing one of our very own Next Workspace members - Marissa Hankinson. From emigrating from the UK to navigating her career in Adelaide, Marissa’s story was full of valuable insights on the power of strong networks and the importance of staying adaptable when things don’t go as planned. And of course, she had us all laughing along the way! 😂 Marissa also gave us a sneak peek into her latest venture, her new company, Wavebreaker, and shared the inspiration behind her podcast series, The Glass Ceiling. Wendy Teasdale-Smith reflected on her favourite quote from Marissa: "I started saying NO. Then I felt good saying NO. Then I started feeling lighter saying NO." Wendy shared that many women, in particular, feel a strong sense of obligation to say 'yes' to every request at work. These words reminded us that it’s okay to put boundaries in place for our own wellbeing. The conversation was so engaging, and the room was full of insightful questions from the audience - always a sign of a great conversation and engaging event!
